Planned Parenthood Reveals THESE Media Partners in 2015 Annual Report

Planned Parenthood is revealing its influence on the media yet again – this time in its annual report.

In late December, Planned Parenthood released its 2014 – 2015 annual report. Under “Top Achievements,” the abortion giant boasted how it “reshaped the narrative about sexuality through popular culture” – from using celebrities like Scarlett Johansson to scheming with People and MTV.

“We collaborated with leading celebrities who are outspoken about the right of every person to own their sexuality,” the report boasted about big name support. “And they have stood with us.”

Planned Parenthood listed eight celebrities by name who have shown solidarity by tweeting out #IStandWithPP:

Scarlett Johansson
Laverne Cox
Selenis Leyva
Jenny Slate
Aisha Tyler
Gabrielle Union
Julianne Moore
Lena Dunham

Out-of-touch pro-abortion advocates “celebrate” abortion

It is almost January 22, the 43rd anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision, and abortion “celebrations” are being organized – with the same, old rhetoric attracting the same, old people. These celebrations by Planned Parenthood and abortion supporters are out-of-touch in a culture that is growing more pro-life every day.

In 2015, Planned Parenthood received criticism for “celebrating” abortion with their “Chili for Choice” event at a Kansas church. Other events from abortion advocates included a Taco and Beer challenge, “Rock and Roe,” and luncheons. But just months later, in the summer of 2015, video evidence from the Center for Medical Progress showed America the depths of Planned Parenthood’s and the abortion industry’s depravity – actual bodies of babies inside glass dishes, dismembered and sold for parts.

And, yet, abortion advocates celebrate.

New Comedy ‘Superstore’ Tries to Make Abortion Funny, Fails Miserably

After making racist jokes in a previous episode, the new NBC comedy Superstore opened the episode titled “Mannequin” with jokes about abortion and Planned Parenthood.

Praised by Jonah (Ben Feldman) for choosing to keep her baby despite still being in high school, Cheyenne (Nichole Bloom) casually admits she’s only keeping her baby because she “couldn’t get a ride to Planned Parenthood.” (Cue the pro-abortion feminist screams about abortion access and the need for late term abortions.) Jonah helpfully offers to give her a ride, prompting store manager Glenn (Mark McKinney) to chime in, “I’d prefer if you didn’t offer to shuttle our employees to the abortion clinic.”

How often do you hear Planned Parenthood referred to as an “abortion clinic” in the media rather than as a “reproductive health care provider?” Planned Parenthood hates the word abortion, why else would they focus on euphemisms like “women’s health” and claim that “only” 3 percent of their services are abortion? While other shows spread the propaganda Planned Parenthood wants you to hear about what they do, Superstore just comes right out and calls it what it is, “Abortion, abortion, abortion, abortion!”

Parents fighting for daughter’s life: “Why wouldn’t we try?”

Chris and Natalie McCrone were excited to learn they would be adding twins to their family of four, but at 12 weeks gestation they learned one of the twins had died. They were devastated, and that loss would soon be followed by more heartbreaking news.

At 35 weeks it was discovered that their baby girl, named Cassidy, was not growing properly. According to the family blog, Cassidy’s limbs were not measuring at the right size for a baby her age. Her humerus bones were measuring 18 weeks and her femur bones at 27 weeks.

Doctors warned the McCrones that Cassidy might not survive birth or may need to be on a ventilator to breathe. However, the couple was determined to bring their little girl home, and before they headed to the hospital for a planned C-section, they made sure that their home was ready for the baby’s arrival.

For first time, bill to defund Planned Parenthood heads to White House

After the House of Representatives voted Wednesday to pass a budget bill blocking federal funding of Planned Parenthood, the legislation will reach President Barack Obama’s desk in a historic first for the pro-life movement.

“For the first time since America’s largest abortion business began receiving public funding – nearly five decades ago – the president will have to decide up or down on legislation to defund Planned Parenthood,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List, on Wednesday.

The bill in question would block federal funding of Planned Parenthood for one year. It would also redirect funds to community health centers who also offer prenatal services, and cancer screenings that Planned Parenthood only offers referrals for.

In addition, the bill effectively guts the full health care reform law, although it doesn’t explicitly repeal it. The legislation would get rid of both the individual and employer insurance mandates, the expansion of Medicaid coverage, and the “Cadillac” tax, or the 40 percent tax on expensive employer health plans.

Number of abortuaries goes down, down, down

Cheryl Sullenger of Operation Rescue says 53 abortuaries closed their doors and another 28 have "dramatically" reduced their services.

"So 81 abortion clinics have closed or drastically reduced their services in 2015," she tells OneNewsNow.

Operation Rescue claims that 81 percent of all abortion clinics have closed since 1991, so the current numbers suggest what remains is 19 percent of the number from almost a quarter-century ago.

Huckabee: GOP exodus over Planned Parenthood

Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee insists that the GOP’s support of the recent $1.1 trillion omnibus spending bill — which includes Planned Parenthood funding — is to blame for the mass exodus that is being witnessed from the Republican Party.

A Closer Look The former Arkansas governor insists that large numbers are leaving the GOP because they have lost their faith in their party, which controls both chambers of Congress that passed the controversial bill putting more taxpayer dollars in the hands of the world’s largest abortion provider.

"[The passage of the bill] put a lot of people over the top, [because after] working hard to get Republican majorities in the House and the Senate, [grassroots conservatives fail to see] significant policy changes," Huckabee recently stated on MSNBC’s Morning Joe.

Abortion Statistics fall in Illinois

Illinois Department of Public Health has published its abortion statistics for calendar year 2014.  These numbers give Illinois pro-lifers information about which to be very thankful as we celebrate the birth of Christ.  The overall number of abortions performed in Illinois has dropped 2,278 from 2013 to 2014, a drop of almost 5.6%, and the number of abortions performed on teenagers 17 years of age and under dropped 507, almost 28.8%.  There were also noteworthy declines from 2012 to 2013.  2014 was the first full year the Illinois parental notification law, passed back in 1995, had been in force.  2012 was the last year without a parental notification law in effect.

These statistics show the critical impact of pro-life work in the General Assembly and the courts.  They also show us why our political efforts are critical.  The victories are hard fought.  The Illinois Federation for Right to Life was in the forefront of the effort to shepherd the parental notification bill through the General Assembly and instrumental in securing the signature of the pro-abortion former-governor Jim Edgar.

The IFRL needs your support so that maximum pressure can be placed on our state government to pass and enforce pro-life laws.  Pro-life laws save large numbers of lives when they are passed and enforced.

The 2014 abortion data is now available on line (a copy is attached to this e-mail).  The figures for the first full year the Illinois Parental Notice of Abortion Act was in effect (2014) are impressive.  The numbers of abortions performed in Illinois on Illinois minors (under 18 years of age) dropped by almost 29% from 2013, when the Act was in effect for only the last five months of the year.  Abortions of minors under the age of 0-14 dropped 28%.  Abortions of minors ages 15-17 dropped 29%.  Abortions for all Illinois minors dropped from 1,762 to 1,255.  Abortions for all Illinois minors dropped from 1,762 to 1,255. year.  For the two subcategories, the numbers dropped from 149 to 109 (0-14), and from 1,613 to 1,146 (15-17).

In 2014 the Act was in effect throughout the year. The result was that the numbers of abortions performed in Illinois on Illinois minors dropped from 2,213 to 1,255, a reduction of 958 abortions, or 43% in two years.  For ages 0-14 the numbers went from 218 to 109, a reduction of exactly 50% in two years and for ages 15-17 from 1,995 to 1,255, a reduction of 740, or 37% in two years.

The overall number of abortions in Illinois was reduced from 43,203 in 2012 and 40,750 in 2013 to 38,472 in 2014.  This is a decline of more than 4,700 in two years (almost 11%).

Of the 43,203 abortions in 2012, 3,138 were performed on out of state residents.  In 2013 of the 40,750, 3,189 were from out of state residents and of the 38, 472 in 2014 2,970 were from out of state.

2015 Abortion Clinic Survey Reveals 81% of Abortion Clinics Closed Since 1991

The total number abortion clinics in America continues to decline, following nationwide trend extending back to 1991. In 2015, abortion clinics closed at a rate of more than one per week with 53 abortion clinics shutting down or halting all abortion services.

Operation Rescue surveyed by telephone all abortion facilities in the U.S. from December 1-15, 2015 and found the following:

42 Surgical abortion clinics halted all abortion services.

11 Medical abortion clinics halted all abortion services.

In addition, a number of abortion facilities reduced services:

16 abortion clinics halted surgeries and now offer only medication abortions.

12 abortion clinics stopped dispensing abortion drugs and now only offer surgical abortions, noting that the abortion pill was "ineffective" or "too dangerous."

In all, 81 abortion clinics closed or reduced services in 2015.

Police Forbid Pro-life Activists from Singing Christmas Carols in Front of Abortion Clinic

Last week, Christmas Carolers were told by law enforcement they could not sing Carols even if they were on public property.

Here is the video:

Activists will go back to the same abortion clinic on Wednesday,  December 23, at 12:00 P.M. to challenge the prohibition.

Members to risk peaceful arrest before refusing to surrender their First Amendment rights.

Rev. Patrick Mahoney, lead organizer of the event and Director of the Christian Defense Coalition, states;

"It is deeply troubling that a police officer would forbid peaceful pro-life activists from singing Christmas Carols on public property in Falls Church, Virginia..."

So what does the new AP poll on abortion tell us?

The headline on the Associated Press story reads, “Support for legal abortion rises to nearly 6 in 10 Americans, poll finds.” Let’s see what this poll “conducted after three people were killed last month in a shooting at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado” does and doesn’t tell us.

According to the AP’s Nancy Benac and Emily Swanson, “Nearly six in 10 Americans — 58 percent — now think abortion should be legal in most or all cases, up from 51 percent who said so at the beginning of the year, according to the AP-GfK survey.” The AP story tells us

“The Associated Press-GfK poll on abortion was conducted by GfK Public Affairs and Corporate Communications Dec. 3-7. It is based on online interviews of 1,007 adults who are members of GfK’s nationally representative KnowledgePanel.”

Are we really supposed to believe that support for abortion legal in all or most cases actually rose a total 7 points in eleven months—from 51% to 58%? Or did it represent an immediate visceral response to the deaths of three people at a PPFA clinic that was attributed, directly and/or indirectly, to pro-lifers? The obvious answer is we won’t know for at least a few more months but that it is plausible the figure will recede back to 51%.

You can examine the numbers for yourself here.

Franklin Graham leaves GOP in disgust over Planned Parenthood funding

Evangelist Franklin Graham has announced he is abandoning the Republican Party in disgust over the move by the GOP-led Congress last week to pass a budget that Graham said was “wasteful” and provided funding for Planned Parenthood, which he compared to the Nazis, the Religion News Service reports.

Graham has previously said he has no faith in any political party, but his apparent renunciation of his Republican affiliation is an indication of anger on the right and the strong interest many disaffected evangelicals have shown in populist outsiders like Donald Trump.

Graham himself has expressed admiration for Trump, the surprise frontrunner in the Republican presidential field, and has voiced support for some of Trump’s more controversial positions — such as his call to ban Muslims from the U.S. — which have drawn condemnation from more mainstream evangelical leaders.

Federal Court to Hear Argument on Mandated Promotion of Abortion

A federal judge was scheduled to hear oral arguments on California's controversial effort to mandate that pro-life pregnancy clinics promote abortion.

Pacific Justice Institute represents three pro-life clinics challenging AB 775.  PJI attorney, Kevin Snider, will present oral arguments

PJI is asking the court to issue a preliminary injunction to prevent the law from taking effect on January 1, 2016.  Similar attempts in New York City and Baltimore to compel pro-life clinics to utter pro-abortion messages were found to be unconstitutional by the Second and Fourth Circuit Courts of Appeal, respectively.

In an attempt to avoid application of the First Amendment, the State is taking the position that the mandated signs are "conduct" and not "speech."  The State is also arguing that ObamaCare prompted the new mandates on pro-life pregnancy clinics by making more women eligible for Medi-Cal.  Under AB 775, pro-life pregnancy clinics would be required to tell women that free or low-cost (taxpayer-subsidized) abortions and contraceptives are available by contacting the County.

Rep. Smith’s Bipartisan Stem Cell Bill Heads to the President’s Desk

With a unanimous show of support, U.S. Rep. Chris Smith’s legislation, the Stem Cell Therapeutic and Research Reauthorization Act (H.R. 2820), cleared its final hurdle and is on its way to the President for signature and enactment.

Smith and lead co-sponsor Rep. Doris Matsui shepherded the bill through the House last summer with the support of Reps. David Jolly (R-FL) and Chaka Fattah (D-PA), and worked with Senators Orrin Hatch (R-UT), Jack Reed (R-RI), Richard Burr (R-NC) and Al Franken (D-MN) who championed the bill in the Senate, making helpful modifications and sending it back to the House for one final vote of approval today.

As adopted by both chambers, H.R. 2820 now ensures that two collaborative programs that support treatment and therapies derived from adult stem cell lines will continue to receive funding through 2020. Under the legislation, the C.W. Bill Young Cell Transplantation Program will be authorized for five years at $30 million annually, while the National Cord Blood Inventory (NCBI) is authorized at $23 million annually for a five year period. Smith authored the original law (The Stem Cell Therapeutic and Research Act of 2005—P.L. 109-129) that created the national cord blood program and expanded the C.W. Bill Young Cell Transplantation Program.

A Surprising Venue for Christmas Carols: Abortion Clinics

"No pregnant woman heads joyfully into an abortion clinic," said Eric Scheidler, Executive Director of the Pro-Life Action League, as he explains why pro-life advocates are gathering outside of abortion providers to sing Christmas carols. This is part of the Pro-Life Action League's nationwide "Empty Manger Christmas Caroling" event. Over the dozen years that the Pro-Life Action League has caroled outside of abortion clinics, the group has seen their share of Christmas miracles—women who choose life.

"We are here to counter that walk toward darkness with the invitation to choose life for the child they are carrying, a baby like the one meant to lay in the empty manger we gather around for our caroling," Scheidler shared. "It's particularly sad to think of someone getting an abortion during the time of Christmas, when we remember hope springing forth with the birth of a child. It can also be a special time to reach women and help them decide to not go through with the abortion."

Christmas carols evoke beautiful images of a mother and her newborn child—but also contain references to healing, mercy and salvation. "'Light and life to all He brings, ris'n with healing in His wings'—that's from 'Hark the Herald Angels Sing,'" added Scheidler, "That's the message we are offering: choose life not death. That is the path to light, hope and healing."

Pro-life forces score major win in U.S. Senate with approval of bill to defund Planned Parenthood, repeal major elements of Obamacare

In a major victory for the pro-life movement and for the Republican congressional leadership, the U.S. Senate has for the first time passed a bill that would block most federal funding to Planned Parenthood.

The same bill would repeal major components of Obamacare, including the provision that provides federal tax subsidies to health plans that cover elective abortion.

Among the provisions added was a repeal of the Obamacare program that currently provides federal tax subsidies to help millions of Americans purchase health plans that cover elective abortions, in states that have not passed specific laws to prevent this. This is the first time that the Senate has passed legislation to repeal this program, which constitutes the single greatest abortion-expanding component of Obamacare.

International Human Rights Day – End Forced Sterilization and Gendercide in China

Reggie Littlejohn is the President of Women’s Rights Without Frontiers. She testified last week before the Congressional Executive Commission on China on “China’s New ‘Two Child Policy’ & the Continuation of Massive Crimes Against Women and Children.” The following is an excerpt from her December 3 testimony.

Women’s Rights Without Frontiers runs a campaign to end the sex-selective abortion of baby girls in China called “Save a Girl.”. Our network of fieldworkers on the ground has saved almost 200 baby girls in one area of rural China. Through this network, WRWF gets direct, up to the minute information about coercive population control in our area of China.

I communicated with the head of our network over the weekend [before the hearing]. Here is what she said about the current condition in our villages after the announcement of the “Two-Child Policy”:

The women in our villages do not see the new Two-Child Policy as a big improvement, because of the threat of sterilization. It is a policy that women must be sterilized after the second child – especially if both children are girls. Women who have a boy as their first child are not likely to have a second child, because after the second child, they would be forcibly sterilized. These sterilizations ruin not only a woman’s reproductive health, but her general health as well. After these sterilizations, the vast majority of women are “never the same again.” They will never recover their strength. For example, in our villages there is no running water. Women need to pump water out of a deep well. Before they are sterilized, women are strong enough to pump water. After they are sterilized, they are no longer strong enough to pump water. This weakness lasts forever and is devastating, because the family depends on the strength of the mother to do farm work...

UN "Experts" Visit US; Denounce Laws Against Abortion

The UN Working Group on the issue of discrimination against women in law and in practice conducted a visit to the United States last week and denounced laws restricting and regulating abortion as discriminatory and interfering with “women’s reproductive rights”.

The Group railed against state laws on abortion, designed to protect women’s safety and provide for an informed and non-coerced decision, calling the laws “severe barriers” to women’s rights asserting:

“These take the form of unjustified medical procedures, such as compelling women to undergo ultrasounds or to endure groundless waiting periods, withholding of early pregnancy abortion medications, imposing burdensome conditions for the licensing of clinics, which have resulted in the closing of clinics across the country leaving women without geographical access to sexual and reproductive health services.” …

Nursing student witnesses abortion, rethinks pro-choice stand

A pro-choice student nurse began having doubts about her position after witnessing an abortion. Author Jeff Lane Hensley quotes her in his book “The Zero People.” This book contains pro-life essays on abortion from various writers.

“I was for abortion, I thought it was a woman’s right to terminate pregnancy she did not want. Now I’m not so sure. I am a student nurse nearing the end of my OB-GYN rotation at a major metropolitan hospital and teaching center. It wasn’t until I saw what abortion really involves that I changed my mind. After the first week in the abortion clinic several people in my clinical group were shaky about their previously positive feelings about abortion. This new attitude resulted from our actually seeing a Prostaglandin abortion, one similar in nature to the widely used saline abortion. This method is being used for terminations of pregnancies of sixteen weeks and over.”

“I used to find rationales. the fetus isn’t real. Abdomens aren’t really very swollen. It isn’t ‘alive.’ No more excuses…I am a member of the health profession and members of my class are now ambivalent about abortion. I now know a great deal more about what is involved in the issue. Women should perceive fully what abortion is; how destructive an act it is both for themselves and their unborn child. Whatever psychological coping mechanisms are employed during the process, the sight of a fetus in a hospital bedpan remains the final statement.”

Three things Christmas tells us about human life and dignity

1. Each of us was once an unborn child. The Incarnation—the coming into the world of Christ—did not happen in the manger. It happened some nine months earlier. This is what the facts of human embryology and developmental biology tell us, and it is what the scriptural accounts affirm.

2. The weak and vulnerable matter just as much as the strong and independent. God himself chose to enter the world in the most vulnerable condition possible: as a tiny embryo, and then a fetus, and then a newborn baby lying in a manger. This turned ancient “might makes right” morality on its head. It suggests that human dignity is not determined by age, size, power or independence.

3. Human life is extraordinarily valuable. Christmas is part of God’s larger plan to rescue humanity because He loves us (John 3:16). Jesus was born so that we might live. From this Christian perspective, God considers human life to be immensely precious and worth saving at tremendous cost. “Christian belief in the Incarnation is thus inseparable from belief in the objective, and even transcendent, value of the human race as a whole, and of each human person as an individual,” writes Carson Holloway.

Obama Backs Planned Parenthood Rally But Avoids Ever Saying ‘Abortion’

President Obama showed solidarity with the nation’s No. 1 abortion provider this weekend by expressing that America is “a people who stand up for the rights of women to make their own decisions about their health,” according to a statement that never once mentioned “abortion.”

This was part of Planned Parenthood’s National Day of Solidarity Saturday to show support for “access to safe reproductive healthcare, including abortion,” in the wake of the shooting at a Colorado Planned Parenthood clinic. To show his support, President Obama sent Tina Tchen, the Assistant to the President, with a statement.

“I commend Planned Parenthood for convening this important event,” Tchen read on Obama’s behalf to the hundreds gathered in All Souls Church Unitarian in D.C. “I share your heartbreak about the tragedy that occurred at Planned Parenthood’s center in Colorado.”

10 reasons not to have an abortion

Parenting website Mommyish recently published an article advocating ten reasons (well, actually nine) to have an abortion. In response, I wrote a piece debunking the author’s arguments. Today, I will discuss ten reasons not to have an abortion.

1) It compounds tragedy.

2) It takes innocent lives.

3) It violates civil rights.

4) It punishes innocent people.

5) It can harm women.

6) It is damaging to relationships and families.

7) It never goes away.

8) It creates new problems.

9) It avoids responsibility.

10) It’s not empowering or liberating for women

All women should understand exactly what abortion is.

Durbin: ‘All Hell Will Break Loose’ Over Abortion Language in Spending Bill

Illinois U.S. Senator Dick Durbin warned that “all hell will break loose,” if Republicans force the issue on abortion language in the year-end omnibus bill.

“Just heard about it for the first time today, and if they try to do it, all hell will break loose,” said Durbin. "You can imagine. The phrase ‘Hobby Lobby’ perks up the ears of many members of the Senate.”

The Illinois Democrat said that given recent events, he wouldn’t be surprised if the debate runs up through Christmas Eve.

Life Legal Defense Foundation Brief Completely Refutes National Abortion Federation Lies: NAF Invited David Daleiden to Its 'Secret' Meetings

On Thursday, the Life Legal Defense Foundation filed an opposition brief to the National Abortion Federation's (NAF) motion for preliminary injunction against David Daleiden and the Center for Medical Progress (CMP). NAF is suing for an injunction to prevent Daleiden from releasing the recordings and information he obtained at the NAF meetings on the grounds that he is a "racketeer" who "committed fraud," "snuck into" their completely secure, private meetings, "stole" NAF information, and repelled them with his constant questions about buying fetal tissue.

Life Legal's opposition brief argues that, on the contrary, NAF welcomed Daleiden and the other investigators as dealers in fetal tissue, that he conducted his investigation legally, and that the public has a right to know what Daleiden uncovered at the NAF meetings.

Daleiden's declaration, filed with the opposition brief, gives a very different version of events than NAF has provided -- and includes the evidence to back it up. He says that two of his investigators, posing as employees of BioMax, met NAF employees at an unrelated conference in September of 2013. The investigators explained BioMax's plan to buy fetal tissue.

Police stopped from helping pregnant teen, claims pro-lifer

A pro-life organization wants answers after police weren't allowed inside an abortion clinic to check on the welfare of a teenager.

Cheryl Sullenger says the teenager was taken to the South Wind clinic, where her father had made an appointment. But the father does not have legal custody – her mother does – and the girl began texting her mother from inside the abortuary.

"So the mother found out," explains Sullenger,  "because the girl started texting her mom saying, I don't want to be at this abortion clinic, I don't want to have this abortion but they're making me do it."

Sullenger, CherylA minor has the legal right to refuse an abortion, Sullenger says.

The mother contacted police, who responded to the call and went to the clinic. But Operation Rescue says they were turned away by Julie Burkhart, the abortuary director.

Abortionists ignore law, parental rights

A pro-life group is accusing the owner of a Kansas abortion clinic of obstructing the police investigation of a teenager who claimed she was being forced to have an abortion.

The incident was uncovered while an Operation Rescue staff member was praying outside of South Wind Women's Center in Wichita, Kansas, and two marked police patrol cars arrived at the clinic on November 11. The pro-life group obtained documentation of the incident, including a desperate 911 call from the mother of the teenager who was frightened when the girl was taken out of school by her estranged father and grandmother, neither of whom had legal custody of her at the time. Her father had set up an abortion appointment, and officers were dispatched to the clinic to check on the girl.

But Cheryl Sullenger with Operation Rescue tells OneNewsNow that the owner of the abortion clinic wouldn't allow police inside the building. She says this is a shocking example of what goes on behind closed doors.

Sullenger, Cheryl"Abortionists believe in a lot of ways that they're above the law – [that] they don't have to comply with the laws that everyone else does,” she says.

Kirk votes "no" on bill to defund Planned Parenthood, repeal Obamacare

Thursday night, Illinois' U.S. Senator Mark Kirk was one of only two Republicans that voted "no" on a measure to defund Planned Parenthood and repeal Obamacare. Maine's U.S. Senator Susan Collins was the other Republican to oppose the measure.

The bill, H.R. 3792, will return to the U.S. House, where it is likely to pass. But once it gets to President Obama's desk, it will be dead on arrival.

Kirk has consistently defended tax dollars going to Planned Parenthood, despite undercover videos revealing that various Planned Parenthood clinics were selling baby body parts for medical research. Planned Parenthood at first denied the practice, then promised to end it.

NRLC Praises Senate Approval of Bill to Defund Planned Parenthood

“Thanks to many weeks of hard skillful work by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), and the Senate Republican Leadership to execute a filibuster-proof strategy, and an outpouring of support from the grassroots pro-life movement, the Senate has for the first time passed legislation that will defund Planned Parenthood,” said Carol Tobias, National Right to Life President. “Planned Parenthood now commands over one-third of the total abortion ‘market’ and pays its chief executive over a half-million dollars annually — it’s past time to cut off the taxpayer goodies.”

National Right to Life praised Republican presidential contenders Marco Rubio (Fla.), Rand Paul (Ky.), Lindsey Graham (S.C.), and Ted Cruz (Texas) for voting for passage of the bill.

The bill would close the largest pipeline for federal funding of Planned Parenthood, Medicaid, and apply as well to the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and the Title V and Title XX block grant programs. These sources account for roughly 89% of all federal funds that currently flow to Planned Parenthood.

First pro-lifers are blamed for Colorado Springs murders, now hints that yesterday’s violence in San Bernardino may have a connection to local Planned Parenthood clinic

The purple dot is where the shooting took place. The red dot is Planned Parenthood.

Hats off to a number of sites, including the Daily Caller, for documenting what, I suppose, was inevitable: an hare-brained attempt to somehow connect these brutal murders with the proximity of a Planned Parenthood clinic and (by the most dubious of extension) to pro-lifers.

As Blake Neff notes, the Planned Parenthood clinic is roughly a mile away “with a river, golf course, and dozens of buildings in the way.” Hard to talk yourself into believing that clinic was the real target, or another target, unless you desperately want to.

Aside from the fact that last night it took hours and hours even to identify the husband and wife team that was killed in a shootout with police, no one had a clue what their motive was or who they might be connected to, if anyone.

US Senate votes to defund Planned Parenthood, but veto is expected

The United States Senate voted Thursday to pass a bill that would defund Planned Parenthood, though the White House has said President Obama will veto the legislation.

The defunding of the abortion provider is part of a proposed bill that would partially dismantle President Barack Obama’s 2010 health care legislation.

The U.S. House of Representatives is expected to send the bill to Obama, but backers of the bill do not have the votes to override a veto.

The Senate is expected to vote on the Planned Parenthood issue on Thursday, December 3, and not long after that, on passage of the entire bill.

Please do not assume that your senators will be present and will vote correctly! Very close votes are expected. Please call and urge your senators to be present and to vote to pass this vital pro-life bill.

Simply Click HERE to go to the National Right to Life Legislative Action Center. Then enter your zip code into the “CALL NOW!” box at the top of the page, then click “Go!” Our system will automatically show you the correct names and phone numbers to call for your two U.S. senators. CDC Report Shows Abortions Drop 4.2% in 2012

Figures released last week by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) show that the number of abortions are continuing to drop–by 4.2% in 2012. That means more than 31,000 fewer abortions in just one year’s time.

Abortion rates and ratios, which are very helpful for understanding the background, also continued to show declines. Conclusion? More and more women are rejecting abortion as a solution to unexpected pregnancy.

Relying on reports from 47 state health departments, the CDC reported 699,202 abortions for 2012, the lowest figure the agency has recorded since 1973, the year the Supreme Court first legalized abortion on demand. This figure, however, does not include abortions from California, the nation’s most populous state, or from New Hampshire or Maryland.

Hardly a surprise: without evidence media links Pro-Life Movement to a deranged killer

You’d expect the following from Vicki Saporta, president of the National Abortion Federation, speaking to the Washington Post:

“They have ignited a firestorm of hate. They knew there could be these types of consequences, and yet they ratcheted up the rhetoric and ratcheted it up and ratcheted it up,” Saporta said. “It’s not a huge surprise that somebody would take this type of action.”

Speaking of “ratcheting it up….” It’s pointless to critique this comment or any other from a representative of the abortion industry.

Rather the subject of this post is the legion of media abortion apologists, especially those whose default response is to dial the handful of individuals, who purport to be “pro-life,” in order to determine what our Movement “really” believes.

7 of 10 abortion recipients claim to be Christians

Besides divulging that the vast majority of abortion recipients claim to be Christians, LifeWay Research also divulged last week in their study sponsored by the pregnancy support organization, Care Net, that 40 percent of women who reported having abortions indicated that they frequently attended church when they terminated their pregnancies.

Despite their church attendance during the time of their abortions, approximately half of the frequent churchgoing women who had abortions responded that they didn’t tell other church members about their abortions and kept their pregnancies secret.

Lifeway found that 43 percent of women who had abortions reported to have attended church at the time at least once a month during the interval of time that they terminated the lives of their preborn babies. Furthermore, it was reported that 20 percent of the more than 1,000 women surveyed who had abortions said that they went to church at least once a week when they terminated their first pregnancy. In addition, six percent indicated that they attended church two or more times per week, with 54 percent responding that rarely went to church or never went to service at all.

Nothing 'pro-life' about shooter's actions

The accused gunman, 57-year-old Robert Lewis Dear, makes his first court appearance today in the wake of the weekend shooting at a Planned Parenthood facility in Colorado Springs that left three people dead. Planned Parenthood is making the most of Dear's alleged comments as he was arrested Friday night. The Associated Press reports that in the middle of a rambling statement he said "no more baby parts."

In a statement released after the shooting, Vicki Cowart, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Rocky Mountains, said "continued attacks against abortion providers ... is creating a poisonous environment that breeds acts of violence." But investigators in Colorado Springs are refusing to say the shooting had anything to do with Planned Parenthood.

Pro-life leaders across the country quickly and unequivocally condemned the shooting, among them Tony Perkins, who was among those targeted at the Family Research Council offices by a deranged gunman who had thoughts of killing "right-wing Christians" in August 2012.

Pro-Life Groups Condemn Violence at Colorado Planned Parenthood

Operation Rescue and the Christian Defense Coalition are denouncing the violence that appears to be in progress at a Planned Parenthood abortion facility in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Details are still sketchy regarding the motives of the perpetrator and we urge the public not to draw any conclusions until police can make an official determination.

"Although we don't know the reasons for the shooting near the Planned Parenthood in Colorado Springs today, the pro-life movement is praying for the safety of all involved and as a movement we have always unequivocally condemned all forms of violence at abortion clinics. We must continually as a nation stand against violence on all levels," said Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition, based in Washington, D.C.

Planned Parenthood founder’s grandson supports abortion but concedes points to pro-lifers

Alexander Sanger (pictured), the grandson of Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger, is dedicated to the pro-abortion movement. In 2004 he wrote a book called Beyond Choice: Reproductive Freedom in the 21st Century. In it, he makes his support for abortion very clear. But there are several passages from the book that seem to concede pro-life points.

Sanger is definitely no champion of preborn babies. In the following excerpt, the term “reproductive freedom” is a code word for abortion on demand.

Reproductive freedom is vital to humanity. It is even more vital than all the other freedoms that we cherish – freedom of religion, freedom of thought and speech, and the freedom to live our lives as we see fit. Humanity has these freedoms, or should have them, because they add to human happiness and make for a better world. So does reproductive freedom. (70)

U.S. Bishops Declare “Intrinsic Evil” of Abortion Must Always Be Opposed

The bishops warn against “intrinsically evil” actions which must always “be rejected and opposed and must never be supported or condoned.” Abortion and euthanasia are listed as prime examples because they “have become preeminent threats to human dignity because they directly attack life itself, the most fundamental human good and the condition for all others”. Human cloning and destructive research on human embryos, and “other acts that directly violate the sanctity and dignity of human life”, are also intrinsically evil and “must always be opposed”.

The bishops warn that it “is a mistake with grave moral consequences to treat the destruction of innocent human life merely as a matter of individual choice. A legal system that violates the basic right to life on the grounds of choice is fundamentally flawed.”

Opposing evil should also “open our eyes to the good we must do, that is, to our positive duty to contribute to the common good and to act in solidarity with those in need.”

Abortion workers reveal disturbing facts about abortion industry

Pro-choice author Carole Joffe interviewed abortion industry workers for her book The Regulation of Sexuality: Experiences of Family-Planning Workers. Although many of the clinic workers Joffe interviewed genuinely seemed to want to help the women, the book reveals many disturbing things about what went on in the abortion facility. According to the workers’ own words and the author’s observations, women were rushed through the facility to maximize profits – and abortionists often treated them badly.

Joffe observes that the abortion facility regularly overbooked patients to maximize revenue. A significant portion of women, she observed, didn’t show up for their appointments and overbooking guarded against lost business. Joffe says:

Like many other nonprofit clinics, Urban [the name Joffe gave to the clinic] typically overbooked clients, especially at peak hours, to guard against the loss of revenues that would result from too many no shows. This meant, for counselors, a never-ending stream of clients in the waiting room…The clinic had to make the most efficient use of medical personnel, the highest-paid workers in the clinic, for financial reasons and for courtesy.

US Supreme Court will hear challenge to Texas abortion law

The US Supreme Court has agreed to hear a challenge to the Texas law that establishes safety standards for abortion clinics.

Abortion providers argue that the new standards would force most of the state’s abortion clinics to close, and the law therefore constitutes a restriction on women’s access to legal abortion.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton counters: “The advancement of the abortion industry’s bottom line shouldn’t take precedent over women’s health, and we look forward to demonstrating the validity of these important health and safety requirements in court.” The law requires abortion clinics to meet the safety standards required of other surgical centers; doctors are required to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals. Abortion advocates say that only 10 of the more than 40 abortion clinics currently open in Texas can meet those standards.

Money spent on birth control doesn’t improve Third World

A population expert believes Bill and Melinda Gates didn't get a message he delivered to them years ago about population control.

Over the next three years, the Gates Foundation will be donating another $120 million into programs for Third World countries to provide birth control and abortion-causing drugs. Steven Mosher of the Population Research Institute tells OneNewsNow that promoting the termination of pregnancies isn't the best way to help developing populations.

“My big objection is that if you want to reduce the birthrate in the developing world, the best thing to do is to help babies survive infancy and childhood,” he argues. “If you do that, if you reduce the infant and child mortality rate, then couples naturally have fewer children.”

Rep Chris Smith on the undercover PPFA videos: “We must not remain silent and look the other way.”

In his opinion piece, Rep. Smith reminds readers

The House has voted to form a select investigative panel to learn more about the brutal practices at Planned Parenthood that were exposed in undercover videos released by the Center for Medical Progress (CMP).

Establishing this select panel is the right thing to do. We simply can’t remain silent or look the other way.

His point is simple but profound. We need this select investigative panel to answer many of the deeply disturbing issues raised by the videos and unanswered to date.

Rep. Smith insists

We must not remain silent and look the other way. The dehumanizing practices revealed in these undercover videos must be investigated.

I suspect that if President Obama watched at least one of the videos, he would join us in demanding real answers and an immediate end to Planned Parenthood’s inhumane behavior.

Or at least I hope he would.

Thanksgiving is a Profoundly Pro-Life Holiday

This Thursday we hope all of you will be able to celebrate the joys and gifts of this life with family and friends. As you cut into the Turkey and perhaps watch football, we hope you’ll be blessed with the chance to give thanks for the good.

While it may not seem immediately evident, Thanksgiving is a profoundly pro-life holiday. We focus on the tragedy of abortion, the loss of life and the suffering of the unborn and their mothers. Working to end abortion and to restore hope to a culture which wants to dispose of its most vulnerable members can be a daunting challenge. But the foundation for why we do what we do explains why we are continually “of good cheer.”

To be pro-life is to state the positive good that life begins at conception, that life is worth living, and that it is worth being protected, celebrated, and given thanks for. Opposition to abortion stems from the joyful affirmation of life in and of itself. To be pro-life is not to simply oppose abortion, but to first recognize and acknowledge a new life as being worth something of value—infinite and unique.

So it is entirely appropriate to celebrate and give thanks for life this Thanksgiving. For our own life, for our family and friends, and for all the mothers who did not choose abortion. We offer thanks for the knowledge that more than at any point in the last twenty years, more unborn children will have the opportunity to celebrate their own Thanksgiving.

Important vote to defund Planned Parenthood this holiday season

Passage in the Senate of a reconciliation bill to defund Planned Parenthood could depend on input from voters.

Already passed in the House, the bill is to be considered in the Senate next. Dr. David O'Steen, executive director of the National Right to Life Committee, tells OneNewsNow that a crucial part of the bill is language that would lead to defunding the majority of Planned Parenthood's funds from the federal government.

“If passed and signed by President Obama, whom we know is very pro-abortion and pro-Planned Parenthood, it would defund about 89 percent of the money Planned Parenthood gets through the federal government,” he explains. “And it is the intention of Senator Mitch McConnell [R-Kentucky] to have the bill go to the floor with the defund Planned Parenthood language.”

There will be an effort to strip the language from the reconciliation bill, a measure that would require only 51 votes to pass, so O'Steen suggests that voters call their two senators with a strong message.

NRLC Hails Bill Providing Equal Treatment for Pro-Life Advance Directives

The National Right to Life Committee applauded the introduction today, in both the Senate and House, of the “Medicare Choices Empowerment and Protection Act.”

The companion bills would give Medicare beneficiaries and others online access to model advance directives that choose life-saving treatment, food and fluids equally with those that reject them. The bills would require they be told, “You should not feel pressured to violate your own values and preferences, and you are entitled to implement them without discrimination based on age or degree of disability.”

The bills would help offset widespread efforts to “nudge” patients to agree to forego life-saving treatment documented in National Right to Life’s March 2015 report “The Bias Against Life-Preserving Treatment in Advance Care Planning.”

A pro-life bill could reach our pro-abortion president

A bill defunding Planned Parenthood could be headed to President Obama soon.

A so-called reconciliation  bill was introduced because it requires a majority vote in the Republican-led Senate.

Mallory Quigley of the Susan B. Anthony List reports good news for pro-lifers, which is that the senate parliamentarian will allow the bill to move forward after first suggesting it needed 60 votes.

"Clearing that parliamentary hurdle was certainly the biggest obstacle," she tells OneNewsNow.

The senate could vote soon on the measure, which Quigley says presents an opportunity to put a pro-life measure on the desk of the pro-abortion President.

Viral video of 11-week baby jumping shows the humanity of preborn children

A beautiful video of a baby in utero is rapidly being shared across social media. The ultrasound shows the 11-week, 4-day-old preborn child bouncing around in the womb. This child is still in the first trimester, the gestational age during which most abortions take place.

Monica Barba posted the video, saying, “For everyone who is wondering what can be seen on an ultrasound of a 1st trimester baby. Enjoy!” She says the child belongs to a woman who came into the pregnancy resource center and chose life. Barba describes the child as having a lot of energy and being full of life, and that another ultrasound later revealed he is a boy.

This baby was saved at a pregnancy resource center when his mother chose life after seeing this ultrasound. We discovered later in the pregnancy this baby was a BOY! For everyone who is wondering what can be seen on an ultrasound of a 1st trimester baby. Enjoy!11 weeks 4 days old baby. So much energy & life!!! Precious baby =)

U.S. Senate girds for close vote on Planned Parenthood funds

Within the next few weeks, the U.S. Senate is expected to vote on a special fast-track bill, H.R. 3762, that would block about 89% of the federal funds that go to Planned Parenthood -- about $400 million in the next year.

The Republican Senate leadership is moving the bill through a rare, special process called "reconciliation," which prohibits it from being blocked by a filibuster. But the bill still requires majority support.

The bill already passed the U.S. House of Representatives, on October 23, 2015, by a vote of 240-189. The strong House vote reflected a wave of visible support from grassroots pro-life activists nationwide. In the U.S. Senate, however, a razor-close vote is expected, and it will require an even greater nationwide outpouring of support from grassroots pro-life citizens in order to pass this legislation.

Please act now -- urge your two U.S. senators to support the "pro-life reconciliation bill" (H.R. 3762), to defund Planned Parenthood! Please do not assume that your senators will support the bill -- they need to hear from you!

It takes just minutes to send an email to your two U.S. senators, employing the easy-to-use tools at the National Right to Life Legislative Action Center. When you enter your address, your messages will automatically be directed to the correct senators. You'll be shown a model message about the pro-life reconciliation bill, which you can modify as you see fit before you send it.
