On January 22, the Trump administration announced that it would reinstate federal funding for Healthy Texas Women, a women's health organization that previously lost federal funding under the Obama administration.The Obama administration revoked Healthy Texas Women's funding because it differentiated itself from Planned Parenthood and refused to subsidize abortion. It now has $350 million in federal funds to use for the next five years.
Healthy Texas Women provides cancer screenings, well-woman exams, family planning, to low-income women throughout Texas. With the reinstated funding, it is poised to help more women than it ever has before.
