Pro-abortion activists protest, attempt to shout down Kavanaugh hearings

Protesters interrupt start of Kavanaugh hearing, Sept. 4, 2018.

Capitol Hill police arrested a total of 70 people, Politico reports, charging 61 with disorderly conduct and another nine with “crowding, obstructing, or incommoding.” Most of the protesters were women.

Among those arrested and forcibly removed from the chamber was Women’s March leader Linda Sarsour, National Review reports. Her group officially took credit for “disrupting the Kavanaugh hearings every few minutes, with hundreds of women prepared to get arrested to prevent these hearings from moving forward.” NARAL Washington and Missouri executive directors Tiffany Hankins and Alison Dreith, UltraViolet co-founder Shaunna Thomas, and actress Piper Perabo were also arrested.

REPORT: U.S. Pregnancy Centers Served Nearly 2 Million People with Free Services in 2017

REPORT: U.S. Pregnancy Centers Served Nearly 2 Million People with Free Services in 2017

Today, a comprehensive report on the work of pregnancy help centers was released, celebrating 50 years of service and examining how the movement has evolved over the last half century.

The 80-page report, “A Half Century of Hope, A Legacy of Life and Love: Pregnancy Center Service Report, Third Edition,” produced by the Charlotte Lozier Institute, presents key findings from 2,600 U.S. pregnancy help centers affiliated with one or more of the three major national networks—Care Net, Heartbeat International, and NIFLA—as well as other parent pregnancy center organizations.

The bulk of community cost savings comes from the 400,100 ultrasounds performed at pregnancy centers last year. Those services saved communities over $100 million.

Over the last decade, pregnancy help medical clinics offering ultrasound have more than doubled, from approximately 700 centers in 2008 to 1,944 in 2017. Today, more than 7 in 10 centers provide ultrasound.

Outrageous: Bioethicist says parents may have ‘right’ to kill born children

Outrageous: Bioethicist says parents may have ‘right’ to kill born children

Finnish bioethicist Joona Räsänen has argued in the medical journal Bioethics that pro-life arguments against infanticide “are not convincing” and “cannot show infanticide to be immoral.” While Räsänen has not argued for infanticide to be legal — yet — he does argue that parents might have the moral right to kill their born children.

[T]here might be an argument that gives, for example, the genetic parents a right to kill (or leave to die) their newborn infant even if the infant has a right to life. For example, it might be argued that people have a right to their genetic privacy and having the newborn infant in the world that carries the genetic material of the genetic parents violates their right to genetic privacy. Put another way: the fetus does not have a right to the genetic material of her parents.

Older children are different, he claims, because they have been alive longer and have “a strong time‐relative interest to continue living.”

Parents remember Alfie Evans, celebrate birth of second son: ‘We have two amazing children’

Thomas Evans and Kate James, the parents of 23-month-old Alfie Evans, who passed away nearly five days after UK courts refused to allow him to remain on life support or travel to another country for treatment, appeared on a UK program recently with their second son, Tom, born just four months after Alfie’s death. According to the UK’s Daily Mail, the couple finally learned during Kate’s second pregnancy that they are carriers of a condition which caused Alfie’s significant health difficulties — “a degenerative brain disease called GABA-transaminase deficiency.”

Their newborn son was tested for the same disease but was found not to have the condition. The couple says they have a 25 percent chance of passing the condition on to any children they conceive.

Planned Parenthood’s host of abuses should be reason enough to defund

Planned Parenthood’s host of abuses should be reason enough to defund

Planned Parenthood, the nation’s top abortion provider holding 35% of the nation’s marketshare in abortions, is not good for the taxpayer. The corporation has a long history of corruption, which abortion-friendly media and politicians willingly overlook. The spin and propaganda regularly disseminated about Planned Parenthood’s abortion business is so pervasive that the truth is often overlooked. Here are some facts, backed up by documented evidence:

In 1970, Fordham law professor Robert M. Byrn detailed his objections to abortion in a case published in the Notre Dame Law Review. Byrn, a criminal law specialist, gave explicit details of the abortion procedure in this article and also filed an unsuccessful challenge to New York’s state abortion law. Byrn wrote of the preborn baby, in part, saying, “The fetus at eight weeks has a pumping heart with fully deployed blood vessels and has all other internal organs. The face is completely formed, and the arms, legs, hands, feet, toes and fingers are partially formed. The fetus will react to tickling of the mouth or nose, and there is readable electrical activity coming from the brain.”

Byrn then shared some haunting statements from physician Paul E. Rockwell, M.D., Director of Anesthesiology at Leonard Hospital in Troy, New York, who said, “Photographs of the fetus around the eighth week present an unmistakable human baby with rather blunt features and extremities.  However, such pictures invariably have been taken after the death of the fetus following an abortion,” adding, “It is death which superimposes the bluntness of appearance.”

Illinois Senator Karen McConnaughay to step down next Monday

Illinois Senator Karen McConnaughay to step down next Monday

Illinois Senator Karen McConnaughay (R-West Dundee) says next Monday will be her last day serving the 33rd Senate District after being first elected in 2012.

Some of her words as posted on Facebook Friday afternoon: ...six years ago I came to understand human trafficking and what a heinous problem it is in Illinois and I am proud of the human trafficking task force that I co-chaired to create recommendations on combating human slavery. It is my hope the General Assembly will use that road map to create meaningful legislation to end this epidemic.

McHenry County Blog reports that in July, former St. Charles mayor Don DeWitte was picked by GOP committeemen for the district to complete McConnaughay's term.

Pro-life leaders condemn ‘sick’ abortion billboard targeting Black women

If you look at the history of the abortion movement, both in America and worldwide, it has roots in the population control and eugenics movement. Many would argue that these roots still run deep. Planned Parenthood, in fact, was founded by a eugenics and population control advocate, Margaret Sanger. She spoke out often against having too many of the poor or the disabled, believing they were “unfit” to reproduce. While she never definitively came out as a racist, in Sanger’s time, most minorities were poor.

A 2011 report found that the majority of Planned Parenthood centers are located in minority communities. And Black women abort at disproportionately high rates. So imagine pro-lifers’ disgust at seeing a billboard actually encouraging Black women to kill their preborn children as part of “self-care,” under the guise of “taking care of their families.” But this isn’t self-care. It’s killing.

Video shows how many abortions United Way has funded by supporting Planned Parenthood

Powerful video shows how many abortions United Way has funded by supporting Planned Parenthood

Last week, 2ndVote released a report finding that United Way chapters in 29 states sent $2.7 million to Planned Parenthood in 2016, an increase of $166,000 from the year before. United Way bills itself as a non-political charity dedicated to improving people’s health, income, and education worldwide.

United Way responded by releasing a statement passing off any culpability for supporting the abortion giant to “individual United Ways with the input of local leaders and community stakeholders.” It claimed the parent organization doesn’t exercise control over the funding decisions of local chapters, of which “only a small number” give “direct support to Planned Parenthood.”

Thursday morning, 2ndVote released a video that points out that  thousands of innocent children were killed by the support of those chapters.

United Methodist Church proposes new belief statement: ‘We support legal access to abortion’

United Methodist Church proposes new belief statement: ‘We support legal access to abortion’
Until now, the United Methodist Church has held a sort of “nuanced” position on abortion… but all of that may be about to change. The church’s official statement has been that it recognizes the “tragic conflicts of life” that lead women towards abortion, and favors laws that limit abortion, such as parental consent laws and the banning of late-term abortion procedures. And the statement makes it clear that abortion is something to be avoided if necessary, stating things like, “Our belief in the sanctity of unborn human life makes us reluctant to approve abortion,” and “We mourn and are committed to promoting the diminishment of high abortion rates,” as well as stating support for  “ministries to reduce unintended pregnancies such as comprehensive, age-appropriate sexuality education, advocacy in regard to contraception, and support of initiatives that enhance the quality of life for all women and girls around the globe.”

The church has likewise distanced itself from pro-abortion extremism.

Sadly, now, the church is considering a revision to its Social Principle, starting with changing the title of the section from “abortion” to “reproductive health.” And almost all of the pro-life phrases the section previously contained have disappeared. The church no longer speaks of “the sanctity of unborn human life” or of a reluctance to approve abortion. No longer are there “tragic conflicts of life,” and the church evidently no longer mourns the high abortion rates in the country. Instead, the statement blandly reads:

We affirm the complexity that surrounds reproduction and birth. We recognize the grief and shame that may accompany an inability to conceive and the decisions that are made concerning intended and unplanned pregnancies. Reproductive health care is essential to the wellbeing of families and communities.

New website exposes how dangerous abortion is for women

New website exposes how dangerous abortion is for women

For years, Operation Rescue has been working to expose the dangers of abortion with photographic evidence, video footage, and 911 reports. Now, the pro-life group has created a website that will show pro-choice Americans just how unsafe abortion really is for women.

Abortion911.com will feature all of the information Operation Rescue has obtained regarding abortion-related medical emergencies and maternal deaths. The site also features a “Check Your State” resource that lets users see reports regarding abortion-related medical emergencies within their own states. The size of each state name’s font is related to the amount of documented emergencies that have been discovered by or reported to Operation Rescue.

Trump administration moves to cut Planned Parenthood funding sooner

Trump administration moves to cut Planned Parenthood funding sooner

In May, the Trump Administration proposed adding the Protect Life Rule into the Department of Health and Human Services’ Title X Family Planning funding. As Live Action News’ Carole Novielli stated, “under the new rules, Title X projects will not be allowed to refer women for abortions. Any organization that receives family planning funds will also be required to keep facilities where abortions are committed separate from facilities where family planning care is provided.”

A final decision on this rule, which could technically defund Planned Parenthood to the tune of about $60 million annually (a mere drop in the bucket of Planned Parenthood’s half a billion yearly taxpayer dollars), is expected soon. But there has been a new development, and the abortion industry isn’t happy. The Hill writes:

The Trump administration on Wednesday shortened the funding period for grants awarded to organizations providing family planning services.

The Title X grants will fund groups that offer birth control, STD testing and other family planning services through March 2019. Previous funding lasted for three-year periods.

Pro-life pregnancy centers are fighting to help trafficking victims

Last week, pregnancy help centers were handed a new educational tool in the unceasing fight to eradicate human trafficking and restore dignity to victims around the world.

Heartbeat International—a global network of over 2,600 affiliated pregnancy help centers—launched the first-ever online course designed to help pregnancy centers assist victims of human trafficking on Tuesday.

The course, How to Identify and Assist Victims of Human Trafficking, is available through Heartbeat International Academy, an online educational platform which currently serves over 4,500 active students from pregnancy help centers around the world.

“Pregnancy help centers are vital first responders to this modern slavery,” said Betty McDowell, LAS, senior director of ministry services for Heartbeat International. “Drawing on expert research and stories from pregnancy centers with hands-on experience, this course equips centers to appropriately respond to this dangerous and dehumanizing practice, and to affirm the lives and dignity of victims in need.”

VIDEO: We used ‘big ovens’: Shocking videos expose abortion mills’ disposal of aborted babies

VIDEO: We used ‘big ovens’: Shocking videos expose abortion mills’ disposal of aborted babies

The pro-life group Created Equal is launching a new series of videos Wednesday exposing the grisly reality of abortion from a unique perspective: firsthand accounts from the truck drivers responsible for picking up babies’ remains from abortion facilities.

The first of three upcoming videos “exposing the dirty deeds of the abortion industry” presents audio from a former Stericycle driver who took fetal remains from an unspecified abortion center “at least twice a week” from October 2016 to June 2017. Stericycle is a medical waste disposal company that helped dispose of fetal remains for Planned Parenthood, and claimed in 2017 to have stopped accepting any aborted babies.

WARNING: the video contains graphic abortion imagery. Viewer discretion is advised.

Three ways that fatherhood and abortion intersect

Three ways that fatherhood and abortion intersect

Abortion isn’t only a women’s issue. Here are three ways that fatherhood and abortion intersect.

(1) The importance of supportive fathers. According to the Guttmacher Institute, half of women having abortions say (as a reason) that they do not want to be a single parent or they are having trouble with their partner. A 2009 study published in the International Journal of Mental Health & Addiction found that pregnant women who felt they lacked support from the child’s father were more likely to choose abortion.

(2) The effect of abortion on fathers. Abortion can detrimentally affect men just as it can women. Fathers may experience grief, guilt, anger, depression and other psychological consequences following abortion. Books like “Men and Abortion: A Path to Healing”; “Redeeming a Father’s Heart: Fatherhood Aborted”; and “Men and Abortion: Losses, Lessons and Love” have explored this issue.

(3) Defending the unborn. Pro-choice advocates sometimes say that only women may speak about abortion, and many men are silent or have their opinions disregarded. But the case against abortion is sound irrespective of the gender (or any other characteristic) of an individual making it.

Pro-abortion feminism has failed to address the injustices women face

Pro-abortion feminism has failed to address the injustices women face

Women around the world can celebrate: all problems facing them have been eradicated! There are no longer issues like discrimination in the workplace or in school, women being sexually assaulted and then forced into abortions, or threatened with violence over a pregnancy. How have all of these problems been solved? Why, through the glory of abortion, of course! This is why it’s so vital for abortion to remain legal no matter what! Without it, women would face unspeakable horrors and discrimination…. or so the modern, pro-abortion feminist argument goes.

But in reality, abortion has solved none of these very real, pressing issues. Yet modern, pro-abortion feminists are focused, above all else, on ensuring that abortion remains not only legal, but widespread and destigmatized. It’s not enough for abortion to be an option; no, it must be celebrated and available without limits. Any other societal problems that women face take a backseat to abortion for pro-abortion feminists, who continue to insist that the most important issue women face today is that Roe v. Wade may be overturned. Never mind that the fact that women continue to feel as though they need abortion is, in and of itself, misogynistic; never mind that abortion allows discrimination against women — simply because of their ability to bear children — to flourish.

Planned Parenthood lies again, says poor women can’t get health care elsewhere

Planned Parenthood lies again, says poor women can’t get health care elsewhere

Planned Parenthood, America’s largest abortion corporation, is in panic mode. With the election of a president who has promised to uphold pro-life values, Planned Parenthood is now at very real risk of losing some of its taxpayer funding, if not eventually all of it. Senator Rand Paul recently introduced an amendment that would have officially stripped Planned Parenthood of all its federal funding; that measure failed, but if a pro-life majority were to uphold its campaign promises, the gravy train would come to a stop. And that would be a huge loss for Planned Parenthood; it rakes in approximately half a billion dollars in taxpayer funding every year. So the abortion corporation’s representatives have frantically moved into damage control mode, trying to convince Americans that women need them and rely on them — not for abortion, but for “health care.” The only problem? They’re lying.

Alencia Johnson, director of public engagement for the Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF), made the claim that poor women need Planned Parenthood for health care, and complained that the Trump administration has been attacking them “since day one.”  This has clearly become one of Planned Parenthood’s favorite lies, that poor women rely primarily on them for health care. The reality is that it’s utterly false.

Pro-lifers’ 9,000-mile walk ends in Washington, DC with protest at abortion facility

Pro-lifers’ 9,000-mile walk ends in Washington, DC with protest at abortion facility

On August 11, over 25 young people from colleges around the country met in Washington, DC to finish their 3 simultaneous cross-country walks across America. With a group called Crossroads, these volunteers spent their summer passing through 36 states, hundreds of towns and cities, and walking over 9,000 miles collectively during their 12 week long trek.

To mark the end of their journey, the members of Crossroads attended a Mass followed by a Rosary Procession to a Planned Parenthood abortion clinic that is just a short distance from the US Capitol Building. The Mass and Rosary Procession are sponsored by the Archdiocese of Washington and the Crossroads teams will be in attendance to conclude their 24th annual walks across America.

A pro-life lobbying effort that is paying off

A pro-life lobbying effort that is paying off

The abortion industry considers babies terminated in the womb medical waste, but a campaign to convince medical waste haulers they are carrying away human beings is bearing fruit.

In 2016, Created Equal launched its Project Weak Link, which targets waste haulers such as Stericyle to expose what they are actually disposing of: aborted babies.

Stericycle has reduced the number of abortion clinics it serves, and the latest victory is Barnett Medical Services which has severed its contract with 25 Planned Parenthood clinics in northern California.

Created Equal founder Mark Harrington tells OneNewsNow that pro-lifers have convinced both large and small medical waste companies to stop doing the "dirty work" for abortion clinics.

Shock: More than half of abortions in Medicaid-coverage states are taxpayer funded

The American public is told that their tax dollars do not fund abortion, but this is false. At the federal level, despite measures like the Hyde Amendment, which prohibit federal dollars from paying for abortions, taxpayers still fund abortions in certain instances. “Federal financial participation (FFP) is only available for abortions performed to save the life of the mother or to terminate pregnancies resulting from rape or incest,” a Medicaid spokesperson previously told Live Action News.

But this amounts to more than what it sounds like. According to Medicaid.gov, in 2016 alone, federal dollars were used to pay a total of nearly $50,000 for abortions at the federal level and $31,000 at the state level. However, this figure was down substantially from previous years.
