David Daleiden to appeal huge contempt fine over Planned Parenthood videos

David Daleiden
U.S. District Judge William Orrick III on Monday sanctioned David Daleiden, his Center for Medical Progress, and his criminal defense lawyers for disclosing videos whose release was barred by his February 2016 preliminary injunction. The judge said each of the parties was jointly liable for security and legal costs for the National Abortion Federation, the subject of the videos.

The lawyers said they would appeal the ruling.

The Center for Medical Progress contended that the contempt charge against the attorneys was “just for trying to use the same video evidence in his defense that the California attorney general is using in his prosecution.” In a July 11 Facebook post, the center charged that the action would hinder efforts to provide a fair trial for Daleiden. The center also cited Daleiden’s attorneys’ ongoing efforts to disqualify the judge for alleged bias and links to Planned Parenthood.

Three Republicans blocking final effort to defund Planned Parenthood, repeal Obamacare

U.S Sen. Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia is one of three Republicans who refused to vote for the Better Care Reconciliation Act.
U.S. Sen. Shelley Moore Capito
Republicans failed to rally enough senators to vote for the Better Care Reconciliation Act, which would repeal and replace Obamacare. Then, Majority Leader Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky, announced the Senate would instead only vote on repealing the pro-abortion healthcare law.

The bill repealing Obamacare would also defund Planned Parenthood for one year. Three Republican senators, Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, and Susan Collins of Maine, have all said they'd vote against the bill. This means McConnell doesn't have the 50 votes needed to debate and then pass the bill.

House passes amendment granting permanent resident status to Charlie Gard and his family

Charlie Gard and Family
Supporters of Connie Yates and Chris Gard continue to make it possible for the hospital that is refusing to allow them to move their son to the United States for experimental therapy to gracefully retreat from its position that Charlie Gard should be “allowed to die with dignity.”

Pro-life Rep. Jeff Fortenberry (R-Neb.) tweeted out

“We just passed amendment that grants permanent resident status to #CharlieGard and family so Charlie can get the medical treatment he needs.”

If the presiding Justice Nicholas Francis, will allow Connie and Chris to move Charlie out of the Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), this means Charlie will receive the nucleoside therapy Dr. Michio Hirano believes can help their critically ill, nearly 11-month-old child.

Washington, DC rushes to implement assisted suicide before Congress blocks it

No DC Suicide
After a U.S. House Committee voted to invalidate Washington, D.C.'s legalization of assisted suicide, the district's mayor Muriel Bowser announced the law would immediately go into effect.

On July 13, the House Appropriations Committee advanced a measure overturning the law 28-24. Congress may repeal local D.C. laws 30 days after they're passed. Because it's been much longer than that, Rep. Andy Harris, R-MD, proposed an amendment to a budget bill that would nulify the D.C. assisted suicide law.

Senate will vote to defund Planned Parenthood, can’t agree on Obamacare replacement

Defund Planned Parenthood Protesters
Republican efforts in the U.S. Senate to repeal and replace Obamacare tanked last night as two GOP Senators came out against the bill, and Majority Leader Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-KY, admitted that "regretfully," the bill "will not be successful."

The 2015 bill that Republicans will now attempt to pass repeals but doesn't replace Obamacare. It would defund Planned Parenthood for one year. Obamacare would end in 2020, giving Congress some time to hopefully agree on an alternative.

Contempt for Daleiden, $140,000 for Abortion Profiteers

Judge William Orrick
Judge William Orrick
Yesterday Judge William Orrick held David Daleiden, the Center for Medical Progress, and two of David's criminal defense attorneys in civil contempt for violating a court order prohibiting the release of video footage related to NAF conferences and related meetings. The footage was posted to a private website in May.

Daleiden's criminal defense attorneys argued that the videos are essential to providing David with a robust public defense after California Attorney General Xavier Beccera charged Daleiden and Sandra Merritt with 15 felony counts of eavesdropping. The first set of charges were dismissed by San Francisco Superior Court Judge Christopher Hite in the criminal case for lack of specificity. Beccera recently amended and refiled the charges, this time including the file names of certain videos. However, the charges still do not name the individuals involved in the conversations during which Planned Parenthood doctors and other abortionists discuss the sale of fetal body parts for profit.

Judge Orrick's contempt order awards approximately $137,000 to the National Abortion Federation for attorney fees and for alleged staff time to scour the internet looking for links to the Daleiden videos.

An Update on Charlie Gard: brain scan and EEG taken, more tests to follow

Charlie Gard with Family
Lots to report about little Charlie Gard whose parents are fighting a famous London-based hospital which insists that Charlie’s ventilator be removed and the nearly one-year-old be “allowed to die with dignity.”

#1. On Sunday the first scans of Charlie’s brain were taken since March 30. As we’ve reported on a daily basis, Dr. Michio Hirano, a world renowned expert in Charlie’s rare form of mitochondrial depletion syndrome, went directly the Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) on Monday where he examined the scans and other relevant test results. He’d come over from the United States to examine Charlie and consult with an outside expert from the Bambino Gesu Hospital in Rome, and with staff at GOSH. The meeting included what was described as an “independent chair.”

Connie Yates, Charlie’s mother, was allowed to attend the five-hour meeting that ended at 1pm, London time. Here is her summary:

‘As stated in court, we asked our experts what they required, and Dr Hirano requested that Charlie have a new MRI and also a 30 minute EEG [electroencephalogram]. Gosh preferred a longer EEG which the judge ordered. Our son has now undergone the scans. We have facilitated the experts in every possible way. Charlie will be having some more tests shortly.’

The scan reportedly left Connie and Chris Gard feeling “optimistic.”

#2. Dr. Hirano and the physician from the “Pope’s hospital” (Bambino Gesu Hospital) met today with GOSH staff. A transcript from their meeting will be given to the presiding judge, Justice Nicholas Francis.

#3. Justice Francis will hold further hearings later this month following this week’s “specialist gathering,” around July 24-25. He will rule on the parents’ request that they be allowed to take Charlie out of GOSH and fly him to the United States to the Columbia University Medical Center where he would be treated with nucleoside therapy, which Dr. Hirano pioneered. The Bambino Gesu Hospital has also volunteered to treat Charlie.

England commits one billion pounds for worldwide abortions, contraception

UK International Development Secretary Priti Patel
England used last week’s “Family Planning Summit” to announce it is increasing tax dollars for abortions around the world.

The United Kingdom has committed more than one billion pounds ($1.309 billion) in the next five years for global “family planning,” the politically correct euphemism for abortion and contraception. But International Development Secretary Priti Patel acknowledged the tax funds would pay for “safe abortions.”

Baby Charlie Gard’s gov’t-appointed ‘guardian’ is a euthanasia activist

Victoria Butler-Cole, who is Charlie Gard's government-appointed barrister, is the chair of a charity called Compassion in Dying.
The government-appointed lawyer who supposedly speaks for Charlie Gard in court is the Chairman of Compassion in Dying, an "end-of-life" advocacy group with a sister organization that supports assisted suicide.

Victoria Butler-Cole is listed as Compassion in Dying's chairman on its website and in its financial documents. "Compassion in Dying supports people to use their existing rights within the law," it says. "We do not campaign for assisted dying, that is the focus of our sister organisation - Dignity in Dying."

Pro-lifers seek to correct ignorance and rights violation

National Museum of African-American History and Culture in Washington, D.C.
An African-American group is seeking to correct issues stemming from the National Museum of African-American History and Culture in Washington, D.C.

Clenard Childress, Jr., assistant to the national director of the Life Education And Resource Network (L.E.A.R.N., Inc.) and pastor of New Calvary Baptist Church in Montclair, New Jersey, has joined with other African-American leaders for protests at the museum over "glaring misrepresentations of African-American history."

"[It] has excluded notable figures such as Clarence Thomas, Mia Love, [and] also the title or anything referenced to eugenics, which has impacted African-Americans in this country more so than any other issue," Childress reports.

The abortion industry targets black women to abort their children, as that was something Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger supported. She considered blacks to be "weeds" that should be rooted out from society.

Big Bang Theory actress: Miscarriage ‘one of the most profound sorrows I have ever felt’

Melissa Rauch
Melissa Rauch, one of the stars of the CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory, has announced her second pregnancy with her husband Winston. At the same time, she reflects on the loss of their first child due to miscarriage. The actress, whose Big Bang character has been leaning pro-life in her own pregnancy, shared in a personal essay with Glamour magazine the pain that miscarriage caused her.

“The miscarriage I experienced was one of the most profound sorrows I have ever felt in my life,” she wrote. “It kickstarted a primal depression that lingered in me. The image of our baby on the ultrasound monitor – without movement, without a heartbeat – after we had seen that same little heart healthy and flickering just two weeks prior completely blindsided us and haunts me to this day. I kept waiting for the sadness to lift…but it didn’t.”

When we see Rauch’s sadness and guilt over the loss of her preborn child and believe that women who have had abortions don’t have those same feelings, we are lying to ourselves. Countless women have abortions because they feel it is their only choice, so how many of them might be filled with even greater guilt than Rauch because they ended their children’s lives of their own free will?

Studies show that women who have abortions are six to seven times more likely to commit suicide. Symptoms of post-abortion syndrome can occur immediately following the abortion or even years later. Women may experience guilt, anxiety, avoidance of pregnant woman, depression, inability to bond with future children, eating disorders, alcohol and drug use, thoughts of suicide, and suicide. Abortion negatively affects the mother for the rest of her life.

America Neurologist to examine Charlie Gard

Timetable pushed back until at least July 25 for possibly removing Charlie’s ventilator

Charlie Gard
In all the accounts of the emotion-packed hearing over the fate of little Charlie Gard, little attention was paid to the fact that UK High Court of Justice Nicholas Francis had asked an American neurologist if he would be willing to come to London to examine Gard. The only reference to “Dr. I’s.” response was that he seemed to be reluctant to do so.

But, as they say, that was then and today we’re told not only the doctor’s name– Michio Hirano–but that Charlie will be evaluated by the Columbia University Medical Center neurologist next Monday and Tuesday. And that Charlie’s ventilator, which the hospital is determined to unhook post-haste, will not be removed until at least July 25 when Justice Francis says he hopes to have a decision whether he will allow Connie Yates and Chris Gard to take their child to the United States for experimental nucleoside therapy.

Further good news. Dr. Hirano, who specializes in myopathies and other neuromuscular diseases, will “meet with his current immediate care team and other specialists, including a doctor from the Vatican children’s hospital. Charlie’s mother, Connie Yates, fought to attend and was given permission,” according to the Associated Press.

National Right to Life supports Better Care Reconciliation Act

Health Care Reform
The National Right to Life Committee (NRLC), the federation of state right-to-life organizations, supports H.R. 1628, the Better Care Reconciliation Act, and urges the Senate to vote to begin debate on this bill next week. The Better Care Reconciliation Act reduces the devastating impact on life brought by the abortion-subsidizing and abortion-expanding provisions of the Obama Health Care Law.

The Better Care Reconciliation Act contains several essential elements that mark a substantial improvement from the Obama Health Care Law.

The bill creates a “State Stability and Innovation Program” which will bring many changes to both the private market and to plans eligible for tax credits. The “State Stability and Innovation Program” contains protections wherein plans that utilize these important dollars cannot cover elective abortion.

“National Right to Life believes that this bill makes substantial progress towards reducing the amount of federal dollars flowing to plans that cover elective abortion,” said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life. “Abortion is not healthcare, and the Senate has the chance to protect life by advancing this legislation.”

National Right to Life also strongly supports the language in the bill that would block, for one year, most federal payments to affiliates of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA). It would close the largest pipeline for federal funding of Planned Parenthood – Medicaid – and apply as well to the CHIP and the Title V and Title XX block grant programs, thus covering roughly 89% of all federal funds to Planned Parenthood.

Vision 2020 and the Illinois Federation for Right to Life would like to invite you to join us in praying for our state legislators.  We will send out information about a couple different state representatives each week for you to pray over.

Consider sharing this information with your ministry partners, your church family, on your website and/or your Facebook page.

We know that prayer changes things.  And we know that NOTHING is impossible with God. So let's join our hearts and voices together and petition heaven on behalf of the great state of Illinois!

Some of our legislators need prayer that God will open their eyes and change their hearts (or move them out of their positions) and some need prayers that they will have the strength, courage and boldness to be able to stand firmly against the opposition as they fight for life and family values.

‘The case has changed’: U.S. doctor may fly in to examine baby Charlie Gard

Connie Yates with son Charlie Gard

During the court proceedings that will determine whether Charlie Gard lives or dies, there was "an amazing answer to prayer" and it seems his chances of being given another chance are increasing, according to a pro-life pastor who was there.

A New York doctor ("Dr. I"), whose name Mahoney says he isn't allowed to release, testified via video that if he is able to treat Charlie, the 11-month-old has at least a ten percent chance of improvement.  And the doctor said Charlie's chances of improvement are as high as 56 percent.

Pro-Life Movie Saves Baby's Life

Baby saved by Alison's Choice movie
A Michigan woman says a little known faith-film, Alison's Choice, prompted her son's girlfriend to forego an abortion. Messaging producer/director Bruce Marchiano through Facebook, she writes, "I was there for her but it was your movie that saved her baby's life." As a result, a baby girl (pictured) was born. (Both the grandmother and the baby's mother have agreed to communicate with the media on condition of anonymity).

Alison's Choice is the story of a pregnant girl who sees no other way than abortion. There in the clinic she has an extraordinary encounter with God who has come to plead for her baby's life. "The whole movie spoke to her," says the grandmother, "I only wish it was around 33 years ago when I made the biggest mistake (of abortion) of my life."

Alison's Choice is available on Amazon Prime and on DVD at alisonschoice.com. Alison's Choice is also available for special event screenings.

Abortion is a crime Africa
Canada will pour $241.5 million into providing and promoting contraception and abortion in developing nations — particularly in Africa — as part of their commitment to securing global access to “sexual and reproductive health and rights.”

The money is part of the $650 million the Liberals pledged in March to promote global access to “sexual and reproductive health and rights,” as well the $840 million they’ve earmarked “for humanitarian assistance in response to the crises in Iraq and Syria,” according to a Liberal backgrounder.  About 65 percent of the $241.5 million targets Africa.

Judge finds Daleiden attorneys in contempt of court

Planned Parenthood investigator David Daleiden walks into the courthouse last year in Houston.
U.S. District Judge William Orrick found Steve Cooley and Brent Ferreira (David Daleiden’s two criminal defense attorneys) in violation of his federal court order Tuesday that banned the release of the CMP videos from the National Abortion Federation (NAF) conferences in 2014 and 2015.

Orrick is expected to order Daleiden’s attorneys to pay financial damages to the NAF shortly, according to Alexandra Snyder, executive director for Life Legal Defense Foundation (LLDF), which is coordinating the various attorneys representing Daleiden.

Lena Dunham Donates Proceeds From Wardrobe Sale to Planned Parenthood: ‘The Cause Is Urgent Now’

Lena Dunham Tweet
On July 10, Lena Dunham announced her intent to sell a significant part of her wardrobe. As an advocate for so-called “women’s rights and equality,” all proceeds will, of course, go to abortion giant Planned Parenthood.

According to a piece in The New York Times, “169 pieces from her wardrobe will arrive on the RealReal, a website for fashion consignment. She will donate the entirety of her 70 percent commission from the sales to the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, one of her favorite organizations.”

“The time felt right to disencumber herself,” the NYT article continued. “The cause is particularly urgent now … as Congress considers legislation that will have a direct impact on women’s health.” Dunham told the NYT that “Planned Parenthood’s never been more essential.”
