Americans United for Life issued the report which, according to Steven H. Aden, the pro-life group’s chief legal officer and general counsel, counters the claim from the industry that abortion is one of the safest outpatient practices in America.

“This report documents 754 clinic violations – including 39 Planned Parenthoods and 34 license revocations of abortionists for unsafe and dangerous practices,” Aden pointed out. “Moreover, there are 65 chronic offenders – we call them abortionists – that are repeatedly cited by state health agencies for unsafe and dangerous practices.

Aden maintains the bottom line is that claims that abortion clinics are safe are simply not true. In addition, they are usually staffed by fly-by-night abortionists who fly in, do the abortions and then leave – with no further patient care.

Unborn child’s ‘pain’ shouldn’t get lost in the politics of the Pain Capable bill

“Does it hurt?” That is the question behind the bill that protects from abortion, babies in utero who are 20 weeks old and beyond. The abortion debate has grown so absurdly abstract; it’s time to refocus on fact like how much it hurts unborn babies to be pulled apart at 20 weeks. This is when a baby is quite developed and about the length of a banana. We know the answer. In fact, any five-year-old probably knows the answer. But here we are. The mere fact that we have to remind people says a lot about this debate. It has lost all sensibility. We are not seeing, hearing, or touching abortion; it has been turned into a philosophical argument about rights.

There is a reason why the word “pain” precedes all others in the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. Pain is a universal human experience. It appeals to our human decency and common sense. People care about the suffering of others and, if they can eliminate it, they will. That’s why federal laws exists to protect cattle from unnecessarily feeling pain in the Humane Methods of Slaughter Act. If we can do this for cattle, then certainly we must do even more for children.

Pro-lifers praise Trump’s ‘excellent list’ of potential candidates for Supreme Court

On Friday, the Trump administration announced five candidates for the Supreme Court, considered the “short list” of possible high court justices. They are: Judge Amy Coney Barrett, Judge Brett Kavanaugh, Judge Kevin Newsom, Justice Britt Grant and Justice Patrick Wyrick.

“These five judges are exceptionally qualified and any one of them would make an outstanding Supreme Court justice,” Susan B. Anthony List president Marjorie Dannenfelser said. “President Trump set a high standard with Justice Neil Gorsuch and continues to impress with his excellent list of nominees for future vacancies.”

Adult Stem Cells and Gene Therapy Save a Young Boy

When people talk about something that “saved their skin,” they usually mean that it helped them out of a difficult situation. But a young boy in Germany has literally had his skin—and his life—saved through the use of genetically-engineered adult stem cells. Adult stem cells are the ethically acceptable alternative to the destruction of human embryos.

The boy suffered from a condition called junctional epidermolysis bullosa, a severe and often lethal disease in which a mutation leaves the skin cells unable to interconnect and maintain epidermal integrity. The skin blisters and falls off, and the slightest touch or abrasion can leave a patch of skin gone and a painful, difficult-to-heal wound behind. There is no cure for the disease and little other than palliative care available for sufferers of the most severe forms.

Now researchers have combined use of adult stem cells with genetic engineering to successfully treat the young boy’s life-threatening condition. The boy’s doctors in Germany called on Dr. Michele De Luca at the University of Modena (pictured) and Reggio Emilia in Italy to use a technique he has developed to correct the genetic problem and grow new skin.

Pro-Life activists walk free after Trial for Pro-Life witness inside Abortion Center

Six pro-life activists, including two Catholic priests, walked free after facing obstruction of justice and trespassing charges for refusing to leave an abortion facility waiting room. However, the pro-life activists were found guilty of trespassing and each given a $500 suspended fine. If they don’t trespass inside the abortion facility for the next year and maintain good behavior, the fine will be waived. They were found not guilty of obstruction of justice.

Inside that waiting room on September 15, 2017, they gave pregnant women roses and encouraged them to choose life. Police removed the activists from the facility, Alexandria Women’s Health Clinic, as they passively resisted arrest. The activists called this a “Red Rose Rescue.” It was because they passively resisted arrest, requiring wheelchairs to haul them out of the abortuary, that the pro-life activists were charged with obstruction of justice.

Prolife Provision in House-passed Tax bill passes House

On Thursday, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 1, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 which contains a new prolife provision.

Under the provision, parents will be permitted to name unborn children as beneficiaries of 529 College Savings Plans, and be able to start saving for their unborn child’s education before the baby is born. This would be the first time the unborn child has been written into the tax code.

The National Right to Life Committee supports this provision because it recognizes, in at least one area of law, that unborn children are people.

The Senate will take up their version of the tax bill following Thanksgiving. If passed, the Senate and House bill differences will be worked out in committee, with the goal of signing tax reform into law before Christmas.

House Tax Reform Bill would be first time unborn child is include in tax code

A new baby is like the beginning of all things, wonder, hope, a dream of possibilities.
The House is expected to vote on H.R. 1, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 November 16th. The tax bill contains a new positive provision related to the unborn.

Under the provision, parents will be permitted to name unborn children as beneficiaries of 529 College Savings Plans, and be able to start saving for their unborn child’s education before the baby is born. This would be the first time the unborn child has been written into the tax code.

Adoption tax credit at stake in Congress decision

Congress is working to make sure adoptive families get a boost from the federal government.

The House version of tax reform dropped the adoption tax credit that helps people cover the expenses of an adoption, but the Senate version restored it. In addition, House Ways and Means chairman Kevin Brady (R-Texas) is proposing an amendment to the House version to put the adoption tax credit back in the mix.

OneNewsNow spoke with Tom Velie of New Beginnings Adoptions who calculated the savings for the government if it were eliminated.

"It hardly makes a drop in the bucket," says Velie. "It has such a potential negative impact on children and families. I don't think anyone who really looked into it would say that's the place to start cutting."

Cutting the tax credit would likely mean some eligible families would not adopt, leaving more children without a family.

Is the FBI preparing to investigate Planned Parenthood?

An FBI request for un-redacted Planned Parenthood documents from the U.S. Senate could signal an investigation into whether the abortion giant illegally sold fetal tissue from aborted babies.

The request was made to the Senate Judiciary Committee, whose chairman Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) referred Planned Parenthood and several other organizations that perform abortions to the FBI after the committee investigated their practices of transferring fetal tissue. The report comes from The Hill news site, which cited unnamed sources familiar with the document request.

The Center for Medical Progress in 2015 released undercover videos appearing to show Planned Parenthood and other abortion industry leaders engaged in the illegal sale of the tissue and body parts.

NY Times columnist calls pro-life websites ‘fake news’, demands Facebook silence them

Facebook must start cracking down on “anti-abortion fake news,” according to an opinion piece in Friday’s online edition of the The New York Times.

British journalist Rossalyn Warren raised a rallying cry to abortion advocates to lobby Facebook to black out sites like LifeNews and Live Action, which she accused of producing “vast amounts of misinformation” — such as the correlation between abortion and breast cancer.

Supreme Court agrees to hear pro-life challenge to compelled pro-abortion speech

National Institute of Family and Life Advocates v. Becerra is a challenge to a 2015 California state law– the state’s so-called Reproductive FACT Act — that forces locally funded pro-life medical clinics to advertise taxpayer-funded abortions. The only known instances of the law’s enforcement have occurred in Los Angeles, “where city attorney Mike Feuer has leveraged an obscure law that mandates current signage for local business to force pregnancy medical clinics to comply,” according to Pregnancy Help News’s Jay Hobbs.

Savage describes the fight as “a clash between the state’s power to regulate the medical profession and the Constitution’s protection for the freedom of speech.” He wrote

California lawmakers passed the disclosure law two years ago after concluding the more 200 pregnancy centers in the state sometimes misled or confused women into believing they provided the full range of medical care, including abortions.

AB 775 requires licensed medical centers that offer free, pro-life help to pregnant women to post a disclosure saying that California provides free or low-cost abortion and contraception services. The disclosure must also include a phone number for a county office that refers women to Planned Parenthood and other abortionists. The law also forces unlicensed pregnancy centers to add large disclosures about their non-medical status in all advertisements, even if they provide no medical services.

Pro-abortionists are nothing if not persistent even though they lose and lose. As we have explained on many, many occasions, courts in Austin, Texas; Montgomery County, Maryland; Baltimore; and New York City have completely or mostly invalidated similar laws.

Pro-lifers succeeded most recently in Illinois. As Hobbs explained

In July a federal judge in Illinois handed down a major victory for religious conscience and free speech protection, granting a statewide preliminary injunction against a 2016 law change that would force pro-life medical providers to refer patients to abortion businesses upon request.

“It is clear that the amended act targets the free speech rights of people who have a specific viewpoint,” Judge Fredrick J. Kapala wrote in his order.

Trump blocks international support for abortion groups at G7 meeting

The Trump administration is blocking political and financial support for abortion groups in the highest echelons of international diplomacy, including the most recent G7 and G20 meetings.

The U.S. proposed compromise language during negotiations asking to qualify the term “sexual and reproductive health” by reference to UN agreements that explicitly deny abortion is an international right. In the end, it was negotiators from Canada and Europe who wanted no mention at all of “sexual and reproductive health,” preferring deletion to qualifying the term to exclude abortion rights.

Media outraged at NRA political spending, but Planned Parenthood dwarfs them by far

Responding to Gov. Rauner Signing the Abortion Tax Payment

Illinois Medicaid already covers abortions in cases of rape, incest, and when the mother’s life is threatened by the pregnancy. The Hyde Amendment prevents federal funds from being used to fund abortions outside those instances, so to circumvent that, Illinois citizens are now going to help pay for those abortions. How did this come about? After promises and reassurance that he would veto HB 40, Illinois Governor Rauner signed HB 40 into law on September 28, 2017, making Illinois the first state to provide taxpayer-funded abortions to those on Medicaid.

Governor Rauner’s failure to keep his word is a betrayal against his constituents, the Republican Party, (every Republican state representative voted against the bill), and to pro-life conservatives state-wide. In response to this betrayal, a number of Illinois Republican politicians and grassroots organizations have spoken out, saying that they will no longer support him. As an alternative, Republican State Representative Jeanne Ives (R-Wheaton), West Point graduate and married mother of five, has announced that she is challenging Rauner in the 2018 March Republican primary as the true fiscal conservative and pro-family candidate.

Since Rauner’s decision to sign HB 40 into law, our firm has received phone calls asking for guidance. What can be done? According to State Representative Peter Breen, (R- Lombard) there is little likelihood of a constitutional challenge to the bill. However, there is a legal challenge underway as to the start date for the taxpayer funding of abortions seeking its further delay from January to June of 2018. If delayed, Representative Breen says this would save 1000’s of babies lives. Representatives Breen and Senator Dan McConchie have also introduced the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act to stop the funding. Additionally, the federal Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, now before the U.S. Congress, if passed, would ban abortions after 20 weeks which would also lessen the effect of HB 40.

“Adoption affirms the unborn child’s right to life, allowing each baby to enter the world as a blessing for another family,” said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life.

While in effect, the adoption tax credit has served as an effective way to encourage adoption by easing the often-steep financial expense that can be incurred by adopting a child.

Object to abortion? You might need this law, Congressman says

Pro-life health care workers and institutions need stronger legal protections from pressure to help provide abortions, backers of proposed federal legislation have said.

“Healthcare is about saving life, eradicating disease, mitigating disability —not taking life,” U.S. Rep. Chris Smith (R-N.J.) said Nov. 8. “At the very least, health care providers should have the right to not be coerced into facilitating abortion. Coercive anti-conscience policies are not only highly unethical but blatantly illegal. The law couldn’t be clearer on this matter.”

He spoke at a D.C. press conference in support of the Conscience Protection Act, which would protect health care workers from federal, state, and local abortion mandates if they conscientiously object to assisting with abortions. It would also protect religious employers from having to cover elective abortions in their health plans, and establishes a “right of action” in court for all entities if they believe their religious beliefs on the matter are violated.

President Trump blasted the forced abortions and infanticide that are regularly committed in North Korea, asking why China would “feel an obligation” to help a country that kills Chinese babies for being “inferior.”

“North Korean women are forced to abort babies that are considered ethnically inferior,” Trump told South Korea’s National Assembly. “And if these babies are born, the newborns are murdered.”

Facebook cuts off another pro-life group, then reactivates account after media reports

Wexford/Missaukee Right to Life, an affiliate of Right to Life of Michigan, discovered the shutdown last month when they tried to “boost” a post. Wexford/Missaukee Right to Life president Teresa Fenby told LifeSiteNews the social media giant gave no notice, no explanation, and no instructions on restoring the account.

The internet phenomenon, which currently has 2.07 billion active users, only restored the Wexford/Missaukee Right to Life account after media scrutiny. The Detroit News and Mlive ran stories on the Facebook censorship, and in the course of investigating made calls to the networking giant.

Then, without explanation, Facebook reinstated the account.

Flashback: Planned Parenthood Donor Mila Kunis Says Unborn Are ‘Human’

Actress Mila Kunis recently revealed her monthly donations to America’s largest abortion provider on Conan. But, just last year, she acknowledged her pregnancy as a “human inside.”

On Nov. 2, Kunis told host Conan O’Brien about her “peaceful protest” against Vice President Mike Pence, whom she “strongly” disagrees with.

“As a reminder that there are women out there in the world that may or may not agree with his platform, I put him on a list of reoccurring donations that are made in his name to Planned Parenthood,” she said to applause. “Every month to his office, he gets a little letter that says like, an anonymous donation has been made in your name.”

But Kunis didn’t acknowledge the threat Planned Parenthood poses to the unborn, who she celebrates as life. In July 2016, a pregnant Kunis spoke about expecting her second child with husband Ashton Kutcher on Live with Kelly.

I do have a human inside,” Kunis said. “Just one.” Four months later, she gave birth to Dmitri, who joined older sister Wyatt.

Illinois taxpayers, but not health care carriers, will pay for elective abortions in 2018

Taxpayers in Illinois will be paying for elective abortions for expectant mothers on Medicaid and employed by the state - but private companies in Illinois will not be offering the same coverage, a new study on Illinois programs said Wednesday.

Family Research Council released a study of the health care coverage being offered throughout the states as they pertained to elective abortions. Here's what they and the Charlotte Lozier Institute found about Illinois' programs:

    Names of Insurance Carriers and Their Elective-Abortion Coverage:

1. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois (12): No plans cover elective abortion (2018 plan documents).

2. Celtic Insurance Company (9): No plans cover elective abortion (2018 plan documents).

3. Cigna Healthcare of Illinois Inc. (5): No plans cover elective abortion (2018 plan documents).

4. Health Alliance Medical Plans Inc. (61): No plans cover elective abortion (2018 rep. communication).

5. *Highmark BCBSD Inc. (7): No plans cover elective abortion (2018 plan documents).

There are a total of 5 insurance carriers being offered on the Illinois exchange in 2018.  Highmark is new to the Illinois marketplace in 2018 while Humana is the only insurance carrier to leave the Illinois marketplace. In 2017, all 61 plans did not cover elective abortion. In 2018, all 94 plans will not cover elective abortion, a 33 plan increase in insurance options.

Students for Life launches 'Sock it' campaign

Students For Life Sock it 2 planned Parenthood

Students for Life has launched a national campaign to draw attention to Congress failing to defund Planned Parenthood.  Executive director Kristan Hawkins is spearheading the drive to hold the abortion mega-corporation and politicians to accountable.

"We're going to be going to mega-Planned Parenthood facilities in Aurora, Illinois, Denver, Colorado, St. Louis, Missouri," she says. "And we're also going to be going to key senators' offices talking about why the Senate should uphold its promise to defund Planned Parenthood."

Students for Life collected more than a hundred thousand baby socks leading up to the first phase of the Sock it 2 Planned Parenthood campaign.

"Right now," she says, "some of the socks are touring college campuses showing students the enormity of Planned Parenthood's abortion business."

After the campaign, the socks will be donated to pro-life pregnancy centers to help moms.

Preborn babies feel pain as early as six weeks

Earlier this year, a study published in the journal Cell documented that as early as the first trimester a preborn baby has produced an adult-like nervous system pattern, concluding that pain is real to the in utero child.

Dr. Anita Showalter, associate dean for clinical education at Pacific Northwest University, tells OneNewsNow that doctors doing surgery in utero on preborn babies know they can feel pain – otherwise, why else would they give the babies anesthesia?


"This most recent study shows that the early development of the nerves in the fingers and the extremities is much more developed than we had thought earlier," explains Showalter. "Those early [in utero] observations could be true that the fetus actually is feeling pain."

Other studies suggest preborn babies feel pain as early as six weeks, and Showalter points out that society puts a lot of value into not causing pain in any creatures.

Planned Parenthood tells blacks: You’re better off aborting your babies

In what has to be the most shameless marketing strategy in recent history, a Planned Parenthood Twitter account called PP Black Community, tweeted a "scary stat" on Halloween morning: "If you're a Black Woman in America, it's statistically safer to have an abortion than to carry a pregnancy to term or give birth. #ScaryStats."

What's truly scary is that an organization that prides itself on its message of empowerment and inclusion is fear mongering young minorities with the exact opposite message of empowerment and inclusion. Planned Parenthood is convincing young Black women that they are not equipped to give birth. They are telling them that abortion is a safer option. They are saying if they choose to be mothers, they will most likely die.

Pediatricians blast new app giving 12-year-olds access to abortion-inducing drugs without parents

Dubbed the “Uber for birth control,” Nurx enables teens as young as age 12 to obtain contraceptive and abortive medications including the pill, vaginal ring, Plan B and Ella without parental knowledge or local physician oversight.

Sexual activity in adolescence is associated with harmful emotional and physical consequences including depression, suicide, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and sexual exploitation at the hands of abusive boyfriends or sex traffickers. Easy access to contraceptives that bypasses parents and a physician visit, as Nurx does, increases the likelihood of teens experiencing these bad outcomes.

Chris Smith (R-N.J.) is hosting a press conference on November 8th at 10 a.m. on the Conscience Protection Act of 2017, which would uphold the conscience rights of health care providers, religious charities, and churches who are being forced to participate in or provide coverage for abortions.

Nurses who have been forced, against their religious beliefs, to participate in abortions at hospitals will also be present alongside members of Congress to tell their own stories of fighting against discriminatory health care policies, and to advocate for the passage of the Conscience Protection Act. Current federal law does not sufficiently protect the conscience rights of health care professionals and others.

The Conscience Protection Act passed the House as part of the FY18 House appropriations package (H.R. 3354). (The text is identical to H.R. 644 by Rep. Diane Black and S.301, by Senator Lankford). Supporters are hoping to pass it as part of the appropriations bill for the 2018 fiscal year. It would provide a private right of action to those who are victims of abortion discrimination,, allowing them to take their case to court.

Planned Parenthood Hired Fusion GPS to Create Fake Report on Daleiden undercover videos

Fusion GPS, the group hired by the Clinton campaign (Hillary) and the Democratic National Committee to prepare the so-called Trump dossier, was also hired by Planned Parenthood to create a false report about the undercover videos produced by Sandra Merritt and David Daleiden of the Center for Medical Progress (CMP).

In the summer of 2015, CMP began releasing undercover videos exposing Planned Parenthood executives regarding the procurement of aborted baby body parts. Planned Parenthood hired Fusion GPS to conduct a "forensic analysis" to discredit the videos. Not surprisingly, the Fusion GPS report falsely declared that the videos had been edited and were fake, even though the "research" organization has no known qualifications in the field of forensic video analysis.

In contrast, the same videos were analyzed by Coalfire Systems, Inc., a company that does have credentials in the field of forensic video analysis and are experts in the field of information technology auditing. Their findings were diametrically opposite from the Fusion GPS report.

Trump admin asks Supreme Court to ‘discipline’ lawyers for rushing teen immigrant’s abortion

The Department of Justice (DOJ) is petitioning the U.S. Supreme Court to punish the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) for lying to the government about the timeline of an underage illegal immigrant’s abortion.

The DOJ is also asking the Supreme Court to throw out the lower court ruling that allowed “Jane Doe,” a 17-year-old in the custody of the U.S. government, to abort her baby.

NRLC urges Congress to retain adoption tax credit

The National Right to Life Committee (NRLC), the nationwide federation of state right-to-life organizations, urges you to retain the adoption tax credit (section 1102(b)) as well as the exclusion for adoption assistance programs (section 1406) as you consider H.R. 1, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017.

Adoption affirms the unborn child’s right to life, allowing each baby to enter the world as a blessing for another family. While in effect, the adoption tax credit has served as an effective way to encourage adoption by easing the often steep financial expense that can be incurred by adopting a child. The pro-life movement has long promoted adoption as an alternative for single mothers facing crisis pregnancy situations as well, offering them a viable alternative if they are unable or unwilling to raise their children themselves.

We urge you to retain the adoption tax credit in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017. National Right to Life believes that Congress ought to remove financial barriers to adoption, not create them.

National Right to Life applauds U.S. House vote to repeal Independent Payment Advisory Board

The National Right to Life Committee (NRLC) commended the 307 members of the U.S. House of Representatives who voted Thursday for H.R. 849, the Protecting Seniors’ Access to Medicare Act of 2017, to repeal the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB).

National Right to Life directed criticism at the 111 House members who voted against the bill. Carol Tobias, National Right to Life president, said

“Pro-lifers have long opposed IPAB due to concerns that it could reduce access to healthcare. The time to repeal this dangerous rationing board is now.”

The IPAB is composed of 15 unelected bureaucrats who are answerable to no one. The Board is directed to recommend measures to limit private, nongovernmental spending on health care to a growth rate below medical inflation. Although most news reports have focused on the Board’s authority to limit government spending in Medicare, little attention has been given to this more sweeping danger of rationing healthcare paid for with nongovernmental dollars.

According to Jennifer Popik, J.D., National Right to Life director of federal legislation, “IPAB’s powers go well beyond some benign effort to control Medicare spending. IPAB would recommend drastic limits for the Department of Health and Human Services to impose even on what Americans are allowed to spend out of their own funds to save their own lives and the lives of their families.”

National Right to Life is calling on the U.S. Senate to take action to advance this legislation.

U.N. reinterpreting treaties to impose abortion

Two U.N. committees, one of which monitors compliance, are trying to deny the human right of the preborn child and skirt existing treaties to advance their pro-abortion view.

Dr. Susan Yoshihara, senior vice president for the Center for Family & Human Rights (C-FAM), tells OneNewsNow that through its reinterpretation of these treaties, the United Nations is, in effect, saying that giving a woman an abortion is a human right, while leaving the preborn baby totally out of the scenario.

"The first treaty [being reinterpreted] was negotiated in 1966 – that's the civil and political covenant that we're talking about," said Yoshihara. "And the U.N. Human Rights Committee has taken a bold and brash step [that's] legally unfounded to say that abortion is a human right."

Yoshihara also explains that these U.N. committees want to reinterpret older treaties and then try to enforce them on countries worldwide, including nations that first signed the treaties without originally interpreting them as declaring abortion a human right. She also believes the U.N. would even attempt to enforce these reinterpretations on countries where abortion is illegal or severely limited.

Dr. Kathi Aultman, a board certified Ob/Gyn and a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), a former abortionist who is now pro-life bluntly told the U.S. House Judiciary Committee Wednesday as it discussed the Heartbeat Protection Act of 2017 that “I am a mass murderer.”

This legislation would stop nearly all abortions by making it illegal for doctors to commit them on babies with beating hearts. Fetal heartbeats begin at 21 days after conception and are usually heard by parents when their child is six or eight weeks along.

Star Parker, founder and president of the Center for Urban Renewal and Education (CURE), suggested it’s disingenuous to conflate abortion with social ills. Parker was testifying before the House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on the Constitution and Civil Justice as it discussed legislation banning abortions on babies with beating hearts.

A new video from the Center for Medical Progress (CMP) presents a former “procurement technician” discussing the intimate relationship between baby parts harvester StemExpress, LLC, and Planned Parenthood.

The whistleblower, Holly O’Donnell, tells David Daleiden that Planned Parenthood revealed private patient medical information to third party contractors like her. As an employee of StemExpress, O’Donnell worked inside Planned Parenthood centers in northern California, drawing blood and dissecting organs from aborted babies. These were then sold to such clients as researchers at Harvard and other institutions.

Pro-lifers laud US Senate's confirmation of judicial nominee

Pro-life groups are welcoming the Senate's confirmation on Tuesday of Amy Coney Barrett to the US Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit. Barrett had faced hostile questions about her Catholic faith during her confirmation hearing.

President Trump's nominee was confirmed by a 55-43 vote, largely along party lines.

Barrett, a professor at Notre Dame Law School, was pointedly questioned by Democratic senators on the Judiciary Committee in September on how her Catholic faith would influence her decisions as a judge on cases of abortion and same-sex marriage.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), ranking member of the committee, told Barrett outright that her Catholic beliefs were concerning, as they may influence her decisions as a judge on abortion rights.

'Heartbeat Bill' gains 170 co-sponsors in Congress

A major pro-life bill has been introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives, where it's gaining supporters early on.

The Judiciary Constitutional Subcommittee is holding a hearing today, Nov. 1, on HR 490, the Hearbeat Protection Act of 2017. 

The bill would require abortionists to listen for a heartbeat of a preborn child and if it's detected, the abortion could not proceed.


Although the bill is only at the subcommittee level, there are now 170 co-sponsors in the U.S. House.

On the 50th anniversary of the 1967 Abortion Act, SPUC has released Abortion and Women's Health, an evidence-based review for medical professionals of the impact of abortion on women.

The fully referenced review is based on global research and lists a catalogue of physical and mental health problems linked to abortions. It was carried out by Dr. Gregory Pike, a medical researcher and the founding director of the Adelaide Centre for Bioethics and Culture, and will be sent to GPs across the county.

World Medical Association reiterates strong opposition to physician-assisted suicide

The WMA [World Medical Association] and its national member medical associations, which include the Australian Medical Association, have strongly reiterated their long-standing opposition to physician assisted suicide and euthanasia on the basis that they constitute the unethical practice of medicine.

The WMA calls on Australia’s Victorian Upper House to reject the Victorian Voluntary Assisted Dying Bill.

The Association cites its Declaration on Euthanasia which states:

‘Euthanasia, that is the act of deliberately ending the life of a patient, even at the patient’s own request or at the request of close relatives, is unethical.’
It also refers to its Statement on Physician Assisted Suicide which declares:

‘Physician assisted suicide, like euthanasia, is unethical and must be condemned by the medical profession. Where the assistance of the physician is intentionally and deliberately directed at enabling an individual to end his or her own life, the physician acts unethically.’

And further it quotes its Resolution on Euthanasia, which notes that the practice of euthanasia with physician assistance has been adopted into law in some countries and that ‘The World Medical Association reaffirms its strong belief that euthanasia is in conflict with basic ethical principles of medical practice, and strongly encourages all national medical associations and physicians to refrain from participating in euthanasia, even if national law allows it or decriminalizes it under certain conditions’.

Judge Right to Order Feeding of Anorexic Woman

A judge ruled that parents were able to become an anorexic 20-year-old daughter guardians and have her artificially fed against her wishes.

The primary purpose of society is to protect the lives of its citizens–even when they might not want their lives protected. That is why suicidal people can be involuntarily hospitalized for treatment–except for the terminally ill in five states, which is a terrible abandonment and statement of inequality.

So too, people with serious mental illnesses whose condition can be demonstrated beyond a reasonable doubt to be a threat to their own safety.

That is why a New Jersey judge is correct to grant medical decision-making rights to parents of an anorexic woman whose illness endangers her life.
