Final Exit Network Convicted of Assisted Suicide

Final Exit Network the suicide pushers and “counselors,” has been convicted of assisting a suicide and interfering with a death scene in Minnesota.

 From the AP story:

"...information uncovered during a 2009 investigation in Georgia revealed that Dunn had joined Final Exit Network and that two other members — Jerry Dincin and Dr. Larry Egbert, the group’s former medical director — were with her the day she died. Equipment she used to take her life by helium asphyxiation, the group’s preferred method of suicide, had been removed from the scene."

The punishment, alas, will not nearly fit the crime–helping make a woman dead and covering up the death’s cause: The group faces a maximum fine of $33,000

ACLU Illinois calls for end to medical personnel's right of conscience

The Illinois chapter of the ACLU is calling on Illinois lawmakers to pass legislation that would prohibit doctors, nurses and other medical personnel from exercising their First Amendment rights to speech, association and religion if it conflicts with the type of services and care their patients demand.

"You may be shocked to learn that current Illinois law permits doctors, nurses and other health care providers to deny information and health care to their patients based on the providers’ religious beliefs," the ACLU says on its website. "This law is wrong and must be changed in order to put patients first."

Doctors, nurses, medical personnel (including pregnancy crisis centers) will be required to inform their patients about protocols they may find objectionable. According to the Christian Medical and Dental Associations, ninety-five (95) percent of physicians in a national poll agreed with this statement: “I would rather stop practicing medicine altogether then be forced to violate my conscience.”

Pro-lifers shed light on controversial abortion research

Researchers at the University of Hawaii are conducting gruesome research to determine how much women bleed during a second-trimester abortion.

Kristan Hawkins of Students for Life of America says the organization held a protest rally demanding answers, including who is paying for the research.

Unborn babies, killed in the womb in the second semester, feel "excruciating pain," she says. Hawkins argues that the younger girls recruited for the research are likely victims of a crime. The age of consent is higher than 14 in Hawaii, she notes, so the girls are, at a minimum, victims of statutory rape.

Pro-abortion children’s book to hit a school, library near you

The book, titled Sister Apple, Sister Pig, is authored by Mary Walling Blackburn, who teaches at Southern Methodist University and has been an advocate pro-abortion movement.

“[Blackburnweaves [this] into a children's book to somehow indoctrinate the youngest of our society — the Christian children — and somehow tells them that killing a child is better for the family than giving birth,” Operation Rescue President Troy Newman explains. “[This] is so antithetical to our Christian beliefs.”

Newman asserts that the book actually contends the aborted child is happy and content.

Democrat Lipinski, Republican Dold vote against their parties' abortion positions

Wednesday, the U.S. House voted 242-184 to prohibit abortions after 20 weeks in the womb - a stage at which medical evidence shows unborn babies feel pain. All Democrat members of the Illinois delegation - except Dan Lipinski (IL-03) - opposed the measure. All Republicans members from Illinois, except the 10th District's Robert Dold, supported HB 36. “As a pro-choice representative for the 10th District, I have a clear record of supporting women’s choice in healthcare decisions, and this bill fails to protect those choices," Dold said in a statement issued after the vote.

Downstate Congressman John Shimkus said allowing babies to be aborted after 20 weeks is immoral. “The U.S. is one of only seven countries that allow elective abortions after 20 weeks,” said Shimkus. “That’s not only immoral, but science now tells us that such late term abortions are painful to babies who are increasingly able to survive premature birth.”

No vote has been scheduled in the U.S. Senate, and President Obama promises to veto the measure if it comes to his desk.

Bigot Peter Singer: Don’t Pay to Treat Disabled Babies

Peter Singer is a bigot. Rather than believing in universal human equality, he would invidiously measure the capacities of human beings to determine whether they are “persons.”

Those with insufficient capacities, are to be deemed human “non-persons,” are to be viewed of lesser moral value, and hence, potentially subject to both killing and objectification for harvesting, medical experimentation, etc.

He also supports health care rationing based on quality of life. This blatant medical discrimination would victimize babies born with severe disabilities–whose care, Singer argues, should not be paid by national health insurance schemes. The National Council on Disability is not amused

Abortuary inspection, fines lead to revocation of license

A Chicago-area late-term abortion clinic with a lengthy track record of violations wants its license back.

Most abortion clinics in Illinois aren't inspected, but that's not the case for Albany which is part of the Family Planning Association, because it is a late-term abortion facility.

Eric Scheidler of the Pro-Life Action League tells OneNewsNow that when the inspections were conducted, officials discovered a host of problems.

Scheidler, Eric (Pro-Life Action League) "[They found] unsafe equipment, they found fire hazards, they found a generator that was not installed correctly that could cause not only danger for people trying to flee in the case of a power outage but could actually kill a woman if she were on life support at the time under anesthesia for a late-term abortion."

Abortion Real Cause of “Missing” Black Voters

A study has been published claiming that lower life expectancy among African-Americans has led to one million fewer voters in elections from 1974-2004.

Our African-American brothers and sisters do indeed have a lower life expediency, and we should work assiduously to remedy that problem. But if you really want to find the source of missing African-American voters, it is estimated that more than 10 million African-American babies weren’t born because of abortion.

New Study shows preemies can survive at earlier ages, but hospital attitude can mean life or death

A study published last week in the New England Journal of Medicine demonstrates widespread discriminatory denial of life-preserving medical treatment to premature infants based on fear that if assisted to live they might have disabilities – in defiance of protective federal law. provided a startling snapshot into the treatment of very premature infants.

The study looked at the survival and outcomes of almost 5,000 babies born before 27 weeks gestation at 24 hospitals from 2006 -2011. It found that 23% of infants are surviving at an astonishing 22 weeks gestation (20 weeks after fertilization) with treatment, but that many hospitals deliberately deny them life-saving medical treatment. In fact, the hospital attitude made the most significant difference in the probability of survival of these very premature babies.

Writing about this first major look into hospital practices regarding premature babies, Marilynn Marchione, AP’s Chief Medical Writer explains, “There was a wide range — some hospitals always gave active treatment to the youngest preemies as opposed to just comfort care, but others never did.”

Born at 22 weeks, premature twins celebrate ninth birthday

Premature twins, Hunter and Darcy Ridley, were born at 22 weeks gestation— 123 days before their actual due date. Known at the time as the world’s most premature twins, the miracle babies are celebrating their ninth birthday.

On April 24, 2006, Darcy Louise was born weighing 500 grams; Hunter Ryan was born slightly heavier, weighing 560 grams.

Hunter and Darcy’s parents shared on Facebook:

“Remarkably, this is considered large for their gestation. They do have a number of medical conditions, including developmental delays …Darcy also has cerebral palsy and epilepsy. However both are very strong and beautiful children.”

The  twins’ powerful story of survival displays not only the humanity of children inside the womb, but the tragic reality of abortion. Although babies the same age and size are legally killed by abortion each day, their humanity is evident.

U.S. House Passes Landmark Bill to Protect Pain-Capable Unborn Children and Live-Born Abortion Survivors

(NLRC.org) With the support of a vast majority of House Republicans, and due to the pro-life dedication of the House Republican leadership, the U.S House of Representatives today passed landmark legislation, 242-184, to extend federal protections to unborn children who have reached 20 weeks fetal age, and those who are born alive during late abortions.

The bill was developed from model legislation developed by National Right to Life in 2010, enacted thus far in 11 states.

“This bill would save thousands of unborn babies annually from terribly painful deaths,” said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life. “It is now clear that the overwhelming majority of House Democrats believe that painfully dismembering babies, in the sixth month and later, is just fine – now let them try to explain that to their constituents.”

The Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act has been the right-to-life movement’s top congressional priority for the 114th Congress. Like the state bills, the proposed federal law would generally extend legal protect to unborn humans beginning at 20 weeks fetal age, based on congressional findings that by that point (and even earlier) the unborn child has the capacity to experience great pain during an abortion.

Douglas Johnson, legislative director for National Right to Life, notes that the bill also contains important new federal protections for babies who are born alive during abortions. Johnson expressed puzzlement that the Associated Press refers to a human who is born alive during abortions at 20 weeks fetal age as “the fetus” (as in this story on May 11), but referred to humans at exactly the same stage of development (20 weeks fetal age, 22 weeks of pregnancy) as “premature babies” and “preemies” in a May 7 story about a major new study showing that one-fourth of these babies survive long term when given active medical treatment.

“Apparently, some journalists think if a baby is born alive during an abortion, he or she remains a ‘fetus’ indefinitely,” Johnson commented.

A one-page summary of the revised federal Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act is available here.

The text of the bill, as passed today, is available here.

In a nationwide poll of 1,623 registered voters in November 2014, The Quinnipiac University Poll found that 60% would support a law such as the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act prohibiting abortion after 20 weeks, while only 33% opposed such legislation. Women voters split 59-35% in support of such a law, while independent voters supported it by 56-36%.

Some of the extensive evidence that unborn children have the capacity to experience pain, at least by 20 weeks fetal age, is available on the NRLC website at nrlc.org/abortion/fetalpain and also here: doctorsonfetalpain.com.

Staff admits to being disturbed by dismemberment abortion method

When reporting about The Unborn Child Protection from Dismemberment Abortion Act, the mainstream media typically refuses to include the law’s definition of what is banned–“the use of clamps, grasping forceps, tongs, scissors or similar instruments [that], slice, crush or grasp a portion of the unborn child’s body in order to cut or rip it off.” But without those details, how can the public challenge the abortion industry claim that the law bans a ‘routine’ procedure that only pro-lifers believe is inhumane?

However, 37 years ago, one of the abortion industry’s own celebrated practitioners– Warren Hern of Boulder, Colorado– told colleagues about people who were disturbed by this particular method of abortion which (in his words) they “view as destructive and violent.” Who were they? His own staff!

In the early years following Roe, Hern did a limited survey and interview of his own staff about their feelings and reactions to participating in dismemberment abortions. He published his findings after presenting them to a 1978 gathering of Planned Parenthood practitioners.

Lack of Parental Notification for Abortion is Child Abuse

Right to Life is opposed to school counselors and members of the Family Planning Association smuggling young girls under the age of 16 years of age out of school for a secret abortion. In doing so they may be hiding statutory rape or incest. This is an appalling violation of parental rights and a breach of trust. It is a sad irony that a school requires the written consent of the parents for permission to attend a school trip or to be given an aspirin, yet may smuggle her away for an abortion without her parents’ knowledge or consent.

To deny parents the opportunity to be informed of an abortion on a daughter under the age of 16, risks or perpetuates estrangement or alienation from the child when she is in the greatest need of parental guidance and support. It denies all dignity to the family.

An abortion constitutes an assault on the body of a young and vulnerable young girl; it is also a lethal attack on a helpless and defenseless unborn child. Young girls facing the trauma of an unplanned pregnancy have a right to the love and protection of their families. The unborn child is also a member of the family, it has an inalienable right to life and has a fundamental right to the love and protection of the girl’s parents; they are, in fact, the child’s grandparents.

4-year-old receiving adult stem cell transplant to ward off recurrence of neuroblastoma cancer

Leah was diagnosed with stage four neuroblastoma cancer last year and the bravery she has displayed in fighting that deadly disease since then “has captured the hearts of millions,” as one reporter put it.

The good news is that the adult stem cell transplant is an example of “better safe than sorry.” She’s been in remission for over a month but according to her father’s post, he’s been asked then why the transplant?:

Remission basically means that doctors can’t see any cancerous cells when looking at scans and test. But when studying cancer you know that although you can’t see any cancer cells on scans, physicals, or test because of the strength of the technology, more than likely there are cells hiding.

When doctors are wrong: The inspirational story of Kathleen Habig

The doctors recommended that Deborah have an abortion. They were about to give her pitocin to induce labor, but she refused. The doctors responded with discouragement, explaining that the risk of infection was too high, and that she would be compelled to absolute bed rest. Kathleen recounts, “My mom never struggled. She knew I would be okay. It was the doctor that wasn’t so sure.”

And her mother was right, but the pregnancy did not come without struggle. Deborah took on the challenge with three children at home already to take care of. She was compelled to stay in bed most days, but that’s not exactly conducive to three young ones running around. She also had to unknowingly deal with Crohn’s Disease. Every time she had a bowel movement, pressure was put on baby Kathleen at great risk. Eventually, on December 6, Deborah went into labor and drove herself into the hospital.

Three months early, Kathleen Habig was born on December 7, 1983. Deborah remembers hearing her cry for the first time, and sighing with relief, knowing her daughter would be okay. Little Kathleen, only two-and-a-half pounds, had to be put in an incubator for two months before she was ready to go home.

The highest-paid actress in US television is embroiled in a dispute over embryos

The technical term for Hollywood’s latest bioethical brain-teaser is anti-mimesis, Oscar Wilde’s theory that life imitates art. Sophia Vergara, highest-paid TV actress in the United States, who stars in Modern Family, a popular TV show which depicts the kaleidoscopic formations of contemporary families (at least families in southern California), has become embroiled in a dispute over embryos. Her tangled relationship seems to be morphing into a script for her own show.

That happened in 2013. Then the couple split up. In 2014 Mr Loeb applied to void the contract so that he could proceed with a surrogate pregnancy. Ms Vergara refused. Mr Loeb called in the lawyers and placed his tale of growing up in a divorced home, his dreams of becoming a father, and his failed relationships in a New York Times op-ed. This was the lesson he had learned from those painful years:

“When we create embryos for the purpose of life, should we not define them as life, rather than as property? Does one person’s desire to avoid biological parenthood (free of any legal obligations) outweigh another’s religious beliefs in the sanctity of life and desire to be a parent? A woman is entitled to bring a pregnancy to term even if the man objects. Shouldn’t a man who is willing to take on all parental responsibilities be similarly entitled to bring his embryos to term even if the woman objects?”

NARAL sees Unborn Child Protection from Dismemberment Abortion Act as “major, nationwide threat”

When NARAL uses a piece of pro-life legislation to fundraise on, you can be sure it will act in exactly the negative manner it falsely attributes to pro-lifers. That is, the language will be inaccurate, intended to polarize, and wholly misleading.

There is a particular irony that NARAL should rhetorically go off the deep end about the Unborn Child Protection from Dismemberment Abortion Act today.

Ilyse G. Hogue, President, NARAL Pro-Choice America, tells her followers that in addition to using “gory” language, the Unborn Child Protection from Dismemberment Abortion Act “demonizes abortion providers” intending to “polarize public opinion.”

Baby born at 19 weeks lives for two hours, kicks his feet in video

Youanna Torres was 19 weeks and six days pregnant when she started to experience cramping and bleeding. Fearing the worst, Torres and her boyfriend, Fernando Viera, rushed to the ER. After an examination, doctors informed Torres that there was nothing they could do to stop her from going into premature labor.

Diagnosed with cervical incompetence (when the cervix begins to open too early during pregnancy) Torres’ baby was born nearly 20 weeks premature on April 4, 2015.

Baby Savier lived for two hours outside of the womb and died in the loving arms of his mother. Because he was born extremely premature, doctors were unable to do anything to save him.

TIME Lets Planned Parenthood Boss Hail Abortion as ‘The Key to Women’s Opportunity’

Young women, do you want to attain your dreams and seize your opportunities? Then snuffing out an innocent life may be just the thing for you!

In an April 28 piece for TIME, Cecile Richards, president of taxpayer-funded Planned Parenthood, argued, “We Need to Talk – Really Talk – About Abortion.” In it, her “talk” focused on how abortion is “key to women’s opportunity” and an outlet to “pursue their dreams.” Richards praised the media – her megaphone – for their efforts to blast abortion-positive messaging.

Richards also applauded “a new generation of television and film producers” for “writing and casting roles where abortion is a fact of life,” including the media-hyped Obvious Child, Girls and The Fosters.

Abortion was, is, and will continue to be an important issue in elections

As political pundits talk increasingly about the 2016 election cycle, we know that biased pro-abortion media will claim that abortion will not be an issue in the election.

Yet a CBS Poll released March 29, 2015, asked Republicans if they would consider voting for a presidential candidate who holds a different view on abortion than they did. Interestingly it was a deal-breaker for 51% questioned, who said they would NOT vote for someone with a different view on abortion. Abortion was the second highest “deal-breaker” for Republicans.

In 2014, 23% of voters across the nation said that the abortion issue affected their vote and voted for candidates who oppose abortion. Just 16% said abortion affected their vote and voted for candidates who favor abortion. This 7% net gain for pro-life candidates made the difference in many races.

Another way to look at it: in 2014, 39% of all voters said abortion affected their vote. Of those who considered abortion important, 59% voted for the pro-life candidate.

New UN Report Warns of Dangers of Prenatal Sex Selection, massive loss of female babies

A new report by UNFPA’s office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia reveals that an estimated 171,000 girls are ‘missing’ in South Caucasus and parts of South-East Europe while there is a growing surplus of men.

Preventing gender-biased sex selection in Eastern Europe and Central Asia contains a dire message of concern on the anticipated impact of the destruction of unborn baby girls and distorted sex ratios:

“Sex imbalances at birth will also translate two decades on into a surplus of men, a demographic imbalance likely to affect their marriage prospects and one with the potential to increase human trafficking, crime, gender-based violence, and political unrest in severely affected regions.”

The unborn have feet, legs ... but no rights?

Barack Obama, arguably the most pro-abortion president in U.S. history, knows unborn babies have enough life in them to kick their mothers – but he doesn't believe they have enough life in them to have the right to live.

Last week, President Obama delivered a speech in which he discussed women experiencing too many difficulties on the job because they are women, including being paid differently than men and for the same job...

Eric Scheidler of the Pro-Life Action League is encouraged to see the president making this kind of admission, but at the same time he still rather outraged that Obama remains such an advocate for abortion, "Here we have him recognizing that babies kick their mothers inside, and yet we're allowed to have that same baby the next day taken to an abortionist and literally torn limb from limb – and that's acceptable under our laws."

Two new bills bolster abstinence education

Two bills passed by Congress this month give teens greater access to Sexual Risk Avoidance abstinence education.

Valerie Huber of the National Abstinence Education Association tells OneNewsNow the passage of these bills is great news.  “This is a huge victory,” she says. “And, in fact, it’s the first time that we have seen an increase in this program since it was started in 1996.”

5 amazing things preborn children can do inside the womb

Preborn children may not be at the same developmental stage as us, but there are many things that they can still do! They have beating hearts at only 21 days gestation, detectable brain waves at roughly 42 days, and can suck their thumbs and yawn. They even have taste buds and their own fingerprints!

The incredible things preborn children can do inside the womb may surprise us, however, they certainly showcase the humanity of preborn life.

BabyCentre shares that the “womb is a sensory playground for your baby,” noting that when babies respond while in the womb, it is a sign that the child is preparing for life after birth.

Senate reaches compromise on abortion funding in trafficking bill

After six weeks of gridlock, members of both parties in the Senate bridged a disagreement over abortion funding in a new human trafficking bill by dividing up funding streams for the new project.

“The fund really is supposed to be about shelters and housing and victims' services and also, of course, law enforcement,” said Amy Klobuchar (D- Minn.), to NPR. Klobuchar has, along with party leaders, contributed to the legislative solution after facing pressure for not bringing the funding controversy to light earlier.

“When I looked back on speeches, that's all we talked about. We didn't talk about health care.”

Make the Hyde Amendment permanent law, says pro-life attorney

For weeks the Senate has been wrangling over language of the human trafficking bill and whether that language would provide federal funds for abortions for trafficking victims.

A compromise has been reached, dumping expanded pro-life language that allows the measure to advance

"It requires a transfer of the health care funds authorized under the new bill from the fund that is already restricted by the Hyde Amendment," says Harned, who is staff counsel for Americans United. " So the result is still no new taxpayer funding for abortion through the human trafficking funding bill."  But each time a law involving abortion comes up, there is the same political battle over taxpayers' money for abortion.

Arrest of pro-lifer could land Chicago police in hot water

Eric Scheidler, executive director of Pro-Life Action League, tells OneNewsNow his group conducted a pro-life demonstration at Chicago's Navy Pier during Planned Parenthood's annual fundraising banquet at the site on the evening of April 15. With the permission of security personnel, Scheidler walked up Navy Pier, merely observing the event, walked back toward the pro-life demonstration – but then was arrested by Chicago police, jailed for four hours, and charged with misdemeanor trespassing.

Scheidler, Eric (Pro-Life Action League)"One of the things that really upset me about the whole experience, besides the injustice of the arrest, was that the police confiscated the memory card from my GoPro® camera," he explains. "This [recorded] footage showed my getting permission to go onto Navy Pier and then my getting arrested."

And that recording, he argues, completely exonerates him of any charge of trespassing.

Pro-Abort Health Care Right of Conscience Act passed IL Senate

Health Care Right of Conscience Act - PASSED

This bill has passed out of the Illinois Senate  with a vote of 34 to 19 and is now headed for the the Illinois House of Representatives.

SB1564

Sponsor: Senator Biss

This bill amends the Health Care Right of Conscience Act:  provides that notwithstanding any other law, a health care facility, or any physician or health care personnel working in the facility, may refuse to permit, perform, assist in, counsel about, suggest, recommend, refer for, or participate in health care services because of a conscience-based objection.

This bill now undermines Healthcare Right of Conscience by requiring pro-life facilities to refer pro-abort services to other facilities thus violating their morals or beliefs.

From the bill text:

Amends the Health Care Right of Conscience Act. Makes changes in the Section concerning findings and policy. Defines "access to care and information protocols" and "material information". Provides that notwithstanding any other law, a health care facility, or any physician or health care personnel working in the facility, may refuse to permit, perform, assist in, counsel about, suggest, recommend, refer for, or participate in health care services because of a conscience-based objection only if the refusal occurs in accordance with written access to care and information protocols designed to ensure that (1) the patient receives material information in a timely fashion; and (2) the refusal will not impair the patient's health by causing delay of or inability to access the refused health care service. Provides that nothing in the Act shall be construed to prevent a health care facility from requiring that physicians or health care personnel working in the facility comply with access to care and information protocols.

This amendment requires a written referral to a facility that will complete the refused services including abortion, contraceptives and family planning.

From the bill text:

...a written document that contains the names of and contact information for health care facilities, physicians, or health care personnel that can provide the patient the particular form of health care service refused...

"Health care" is defined as any phase of patient care, including but not limited to, testing; diagnosis; prognosis; ancillary research; instructions; family planningcounsellingreferrals, or any other advice in connection with the use or procurement of contraceptives and sterilization or abortion procedures; medication; or surgery or other care or treatment rendered by a physician or physicians, nurses, paraprofessionals or health care facility, intended for the physical, emotional, and mental well-being of persons...

Although an amendment has been added to bill, the Federation for Right to Life still opposes this bill.

Serious Obamacare Rationing Provision Again Under Fire

A renewed pushback is underway against one of the most serious of the multiple rationing provisions of the five-year old Obama Health Care law — the “excess benefits tax.” The original law deliberately delayed the provision’s implementation until 2018 because of its controversial nature.

Obamacare imposes a whopping 40% excise tax on employer-paid health insurance premiums above a governmentally imposed limit that does not allow for medical inflation. The “excess benefits” tax will have its intended result of effectively imposing a price control on health insurance premiums.

Consequently, insurance companies will be forced to impose increasingly severe restraints on policy-holders’ access to medical diagnosis and treatment–limits that will not prevent setting broken legs and giving flu shots, but will make it harder and harder to get the often expensive medicines, surgery, and therapy essential to combat such life-threatening illnesses as cancer, heart disease, and organ failure.

Illinois Abortion clinic evades fine by changing name

A three-judge panel of the Appellate Court of Illinois has unanimous ruled that an abortion clinic in Linwood, Illinois, need not pay a $35,000 fine that followed the death of 18-year-old Antonesha Ross.

“The clinic owner, Larisa Rozansky, has argued that the Women’s Aid Clinic, which filed for bankruptcy before closing in 2011, has no money to pay the fine and that her new clinic, the Women’s Aid Center, is an entirely separate entity that cannot be held responsible,” the Chicago Tribune’s Nara Schoenberg reported.

The Women’s Aid Center, the Illinois Department of Public Health pointed out, has two of the same phone numbers as the Women’s Aid Clinic “and that for a while it had the same website and location,” according to Schoenberg.

IL Catholic bishops Send Letter Rejecting HB 4013 to Illinois House Members

Illinois' Catholic bishops sent a letter to Illinois House members to reject House Bill 4013 and its call for public funding of abortions. Both the House and Senate reconvened after a two-week spring break. House Bill 4013 passed the House Human Services Committee on a partisan 8-6 vote on March 18.

Here is the letter...

April 14, 2015

Dear Representative,

We, the Catholic bishops of Illinois, write in regard to House Bill 4013, legislation which is a radical departure from longstanding Illinois health policy. As it allows taxpayer money to pay for abortions and funds grants to organizations that advocate for and perform abortions, we ask that you join us in opposing it.

These specific provisions of the legislation proposed are troubling: It removes the prohibition on state employees' health insurance plans from paying for elective abortions.

It removes the prohibition on using taxpayer money to pay for elective abortions in the state's Medicaid program.

It removes the prohibition on state-funded grants to organizations that refer, counsel for, or perform abortions. Current law calls for those grants to go to organizations that assist women experiencing problem pregnancies.

The American people have opposed the use of public money to support or promote elective abortion. As recently as March 2014, a CNN/ORC poll of over 1,000 adults nationwide found the public opposes the use of public funds for abortion by a margin of 56 percent to 39 percent. Additionally, there is nearly a forty-year history of federal legislation embracing this principle through the Hyde amendment to annual appropriations bills, and in numerous similar provisions governing a wide range of domestic and foreign programs.

The provisions of House Bill 4013 will force all taxpayers, even those opposed as a matter of conscience, to participate in funding the abortion industry. This is a radical shift in public policy as it totally disregards the fact that an overwhelming majority of Americans steadfastly have opposed contributing their personal resources through tax dollars for the destruction of innocent human life.  We ask that you reject this bill and not allow the use of public funds for abortion.

As we thank you for your thoughtful consideration of our request, this letter gives us the opportunity to express our gratitude for your public service and our high regard for the sacrifices it involves for you and your families.

Respectfully,

Most Reverend Blase J. Cupich

Hundreds of Doctors back New Abortion Pill Reversal Process

Hundreds of pro-life physicians are throwing their support behind the abortion pill reversal process that--to date--has saved the lives of unborn children whose mothers took the abortion pill and then changed their minds.

“Many women are ambivalent about their abortion decision, and there is increasing evidence that many abortions are coerced. These women welcome the opportunity to reverse their initial decision, and should be given accurate information about this process,” said physicians Mary L. Davenport, director of public policy, and Donna J. Harrison, executive director of the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists (AAPLOG) in a statement. The association, based in Eau Claire, Michigan, has 2,500 members.

The statement said, “Progesterone reversal of mifepristone is an off-label use of an FDA approved drug. Off-label use of FDA approved drugs is legal, and widely prevalent in the USA. In fact, the most common abortion pill protocols use non-FDA approved doses, and non-FDA approved protocols for pregnancies beyond seven weeks. It is hypocritical for abortion advocates to criticize off-label use of pharmaceuticals when in fact they are widely engaging in this practice themselves.”

Baby given 1 percent chance of survival turns 12 after mom refuses abortion

Aaliyah Hart weighed just 12 ounces when she was born three months premature in 2003. She was the smallest baby ever to be born in Britain – so tiny that she fit in her mother’s hand.

However, Aaliyah’s fight to survive began while she was still in her mother’s womb. At roughly 20 weeks gestation, Aaliyah had stopped growing, and doctors doubted she would survive. Then at 28 weeks, her mother, Lorraine Hart, went into labor. Hart and her husband, Ricardo, had been trying for 10 years to conceive, and Aaliyah was their miracle baby.

Jeff Bissenden, regional director for Birmingham City Hospital, told Telegraph after Aaliyah was born, “I’m amazed the baby did not die in the womb. I think this baby’s survival is down to the intrinsic toughness of the child, not down to anything we have done.”

Obama Admin cuts $128 M from feeding the hungry to subsidize abortions

A government report shows two international abortion advocacy groups received $128 million from USAID, a federal agency that distributes foreign aid.

One of them – International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) – works at the UN Its goal is to require countries to regard abortion as a right and include it in global poverty and health programs. The other, Population Council, works to make abortions widely available in developing countries where it is especially dangerous.

U.S. law prohibits foreign aid paying for abortions. But under an executive order by President Obama, tax dollars can go to international groups that provide and promote abortion. While the money cannot be spent to do abortions, paying for items like overhead, advocacy and materials frees other money to be spent on abortions.

Kansas, Arkansas limits abortions with new laws, Illinois stalls prolife bills

While the ACLU of Illinois and pro-abortion groups slide pro-life measures back into sub-committees and then back to the Rules Committee graveyard, in neighboring states, governors are signing bills into law that protect expectant moms and their unborn babies.

Last week, Kansas' Gov. Sam Brownback signed into law the historic "Unborn Child Protection from Dismemberment Abortion Act," which bans an abortion method in which a living unborn child in her mother's womb is severed into pieces by an abortionist using sharp metal tools.

In contrast, the Illinois' pro-abortion legislative leadership has "put a brick  on" any abortion-limiting bills.  Three key incremental approaches to limiting abortion have been pushed back into what is considered legislation Hades - infamous sub-committees.

‘I love you Mommy’ video has the sweetest preborn cartoon you’ve ever seen

In the video, we see a woman with a little cartoon circle jumping around inside of her.  The circle represents her pre-born child who is talking to her with the sweetest voice. “Hi Mommy, this is our first day together, but you didn’t know I was there yet!”, the little voice says. As the mom puts down the pregnancy test reading positive the little baby yells, “Surprise!”

As the video continues, the little circle turns into a face with arms and legs. The pre-born baby is still talking to the mother as she eats breakfast, exercises, and goes to her ultrasound appointment. As the mom’s stomach grows, the baby gives her hugs from the inside, and as she naps the baby dreams of the day she’ll hold her. The video is life-affirming because it shows the undeniable connection between a mother and her growing child. As you watch the video, you’ll feel happy that the adorable baby is safe, loved and growing, even though you know it’s just a cartoon.

Democratic Party leader: There should be no restrictions on abortion. ‘Period. End of story.’

In response to a question poised by Republican presidential hopeful Rand Paul, the head of the Democratic National Committee, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, said there should be no government restrictions on abortion: “Period. End of story.”

Wasserman Schultz made the following statements in a press release after Paul challenged her to respond to whether she would support killing a “7-pound baby in the uterus”:

“Here’s an answer. I support letting women and their doctors make this decision without government getting involved. Period. End of story. ”

Nurse quits abortion industry after baby born alive is left to die

According to M. Goldstein:

I got hired as a charge nurse at this clinic that did late term abortions.  I spent about 30 days on the day shift getting familiar with everything.  I would witness and assist the doctor in the actual procedure, injection of drugs to the fetus, the seaweed, etc.  On the day shift I really never saw the actual start of the contractions or the termination process.  I was uncomfortable, but I really thought to myself, this was something new and I needed to get more experience.

When she delivered a tiny baby (it looked full term to me) she was actually alive and crying.  The doctor said to me, “Put it in the room and close the door.  Do not enter til the morning shift.”  I immediately took the crying baby and wrapped it up and laid it in a room.  I then immediately started calling hospitals around (against the doctor’s wishes) to find someone that would take it.  None around would take it cause they said it was not viable.  I spent many hours trying.  I just wanted to leave this place, but I knew I could not walk out and leave other patients without a charge nurse.  Til this day I hear this crying infant in my head.

Facebook rejects picture of precious baby as ‘shocking’

Facebook says a recent Live Action News story cannot be promoted on the social media site because “the image or video thumbnail may shock or evoke a negative response from viewers.”

The “shocking” image is of baby Eli Thompson who was born last month without a nose; in the touching piece, his parents say they love him exactly as he is and think he is “perfect.”

But Facebook thinks the picture of young Eli is too troublesome to be a promoted piece, and it refused the ad.

Sanger on $20 bill is 'disgraceful' to blacks, says pro-lifer

Dr. Clenard Childress of the pro-life group, L.E.A.R.N., is responding to a proposal to put a woman on the $20 bill.

One of the recommendations is Margaret Sanger, the eugenicist and founder of Planned Parenthood. She believed minorities such as blacks were the weeds of society and should be reduced.

Today, most of their abortion clinics are in black and Hispanic neighborhoods.

"How can this even be considered if it was not for political parties that are basically benefiting from the relationship with Planned Parenthood, and those entities like Planned Parenthood?" Childress asks. "There could be no other explanation for this. It's disgraceful."

New survey finds 52% believe life begins at conception, 66% believe unborn children are people

A poll published today by YouGov offers some fascinating insights into what 1,000 Americans said about abortion, fetal homicide, and the beginning of life.

For starters, 76% said prosecutors should be able to charge someone who attacks a pregnant woman if it leads to the “death of her unborn child.” There was a widespread consensus across all demographics.

Then there is the question of “When do you believe abortion should be legal?” YouGov summarized the results this way:

56% of Americans think that abortion should not be legal on request, with 17% saying that it should never be allowed and 39% saying that it should only be allowed in certain special cases. 16% support abortion until the first trimester, while 9% support it until the point of survivability. 20% believe that abortion should always be legal.

‘Children are never a mistake,’ says Pope

Continuing his reflections on the family, Pope Francis devoted his April 8 general audience to suffering children.

“From the first moments of their lives, some are rejected, abandoned, and robbed of their infancy and future,” said the Pope, according to Vatican Radio’s summary of his remarks.

“There are those who say it is a mistake to bring these children into the world, due to their fragility, and the hunger and poverty they suffer,” the Pope continued. “But children are never a mistake, and their sufferings are only reasons for us to love them even more.”

Kansas signed into law a bill banning dismemberment abortions

On April 7th at 8:00 a.m., Gov. Sam Brownback of Kansas signed into law a bill banning dismemberment abortions!

It is the first of what we hope will be many state laws banning dismemberment abortions.  This law could have the power to transform the landscape of abortion policy in the United States.

In a dismemberment abortion, a forceps or similar instrument is used to twist and tear pieces of a living unborn baby from her body until the baby bleeds to death. Many of these babies are developed enough to feel pain.

Even Justice Anthony Kennedy of the U.S. Supreme Court has written forcefully about the brutality of such abortions. The Unborn Child Protection from Dismemberment Abortion Act would ban them.

Mammoth Cloning: Paving Way for Human Cloning

Scientists are coming closer to being potentially able to resurrect extinct wholly mammoths through cloning (using mammoth DNA in elephant eggs) and–to keep animal rights activists off their backs–gestation in artificial wombs instead of female elephants.

From the Popular Science story

Using a DNA editing tool called CRISPR, the scientists spliced genes for the mammoths’ small ears, subcutaneous fat, and hair length and color into the DNA of elephant skin cells. The tissue cultures represent the first time woolly mammoth genes have been functional since the species went extinct around 4,000 years ago.

The next step will be to try and make mammoth embryos through cloning:

If those tests go well, the team hopes to turn the elephant/mammoth skin cells into hybrid embryos that can be grown in artificial wombs, devices that allow for pregnancies outside of an animal’s uterus.

Artificial wombs are pretty speculative at this point, but the alternative–implanting the hybrids into the wombs of female elephants–is unsavory to animal rights activists as well as geneticists. “It’s going to be more humane and easier if we can set up hundreds of [embryos] in an incubator and run tests,” says Church.

That is the same process that will be required to perfect human cloning.

Pro-lifers observe Jesus’ death by standing for life

Throughout Good Friday, pro-lifers across the country will participate in ceremonies at the nation's abortuaries.

“We pray for these children who are threatened by abortion and we pray for their mothers and fathers to choose life,” Eric Scheidler says. “We pray for all those who are involved in the abortion decision, all those involved in working in the abortion industry including the abortion providers themselves. We pray for our nation. We pray for our legislators to do the right thing and restore legal protection to unborn children.”

About 60 cities throughout the country are participating; a complete list appears on the Pro-Life Action League website.

Christie adds name to supporters of pro-life bill before Congress

The Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act has gained support that might get it some much-needed attention.

A bill to ban the practice is filed in both the U.S. House and Senate.

Marie Tasy of New Jersey Right to Life says Gov. Chris Christie has said he supports the federal legislation.

Christie is a possible contender for the Republican nod for president in 2016 and his statement could mean the bill might become a campaign issue in the coming months.

Assisted-suicide bill would have doctors lie about cause of death

Assisted suicide supporters have filed SB128, a bill in the state Senate to legalize doctor-prescribed death. Supporters justify the move by pointing to Oregon’s assisted-suicide experience that, they claim, has worked without a flaw.

But how would they know?

State oversight depends almost entirely on self-reporting by physicians, who are about as likely to tell the state that they broke the law as they are to tell the IRS they cheated on their taxes. Moreover, Oregon state officials admitted to a British House of Lords investigative committee considering legalization of assisted suicide, that Oregon’s oversight agency does not have the legal authority — or budget — to conduct independent inquiries even if a legal violation is uncovered.

Pro-Life NRLC: Bias obvious in advance care planning promotion

Nat'l Right to Life Committee (NRLC)An Institute of Medicine report apparently favors advance care planning in ObamaCare – but there may be a hidden motive in advancing the concept.

When ObamaCare was first proposed, one of the provisions called for doctors to be paid to talk to Medicare patients about advance care planning – i.e., whether they would want lifesaving medical treatment. Burke Balch of the National Right to Life Committee reminds OneNewsNow that following an outcry from the public the provision was dropped – but he contends it is now being revived and, in part, encouraged by the Institute of Medicine.

"And a lot of health insurers are now paying organizations to cold call their beneficiaries – those who are insured – to start sort of talking them [about] agreeing to sign documents that say they'll forgo [such] treatment," he explains.

Planned Parenthood has a Plan B to siphon our tax dollars

American tax dollars have been proven to fund abortions but now an exhaustive study shows the money is coming from an unexpected source.

Planned Parenthood has denied that its use of tax dollars – which average a whopping half-billion dollars a year – are used for abortion or for promoting abortion. But a review by the Government Accountability Office found widespread taxpayer funding for abortion advocacy organizations – six of them.

Seventeen states use Medicaid to pay for abortions for any reason.
