U.S.News & World Report: Lost Your Health Insurance? Consider Killing Your Baby at Planned Parenthood Clinics

There is no joy in Mudville. Our house values have plummeted, and our portfolios and pensions were worth more a decade ago than they are today. A whopping 7.6 percent (and growing) of us are unemployed, while the rest of us are worried about losing our jobs. The hemorrhaging job market leaves an additional 14,000 Americans every day without health insurance, according to the Center for American Progress Action Fund, a left-leaning think tank. No surprise, many of us are now praying that our birth control doesn't fail us, and some women have consciously decided to postpone having a baby in this recession. Many of those left without insurance have been swarming into Planned Parenthood clinics to get free or subsidized contraception. In fact, a spokesperson from the Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pennsylvania tells me it has seen a 10 percent increase in the number of women coming into its local centers in the past three months.

Indiana Senate Moves to Toughen Penalties for Killing Fetuses

The Indiana Senate has passed a bill that would lengthen prison terms for people who murder or attempt to murder a pregnant woman and cause the death of her fetus. The bill, approved Tuesday on a 40-9 vote, was inspired by the shooting of an Indianapolis bank teller in April 2008. Katherin Shuffield was five months pregnant when she was wounded in the abdomen during a robbery at a Huntington Bank branch on the city's east side. She survived, but the twin girls she and her husband were expecting did not.

Economics Trumps Human Rights During Hillary's China Visit

Considering that the Chinese communists have killed tens of millions of their own people since taking power in 1949, and continue to be one of the world's worst oppressors of human rights, one wonders how any U.S. official can in good conscience promote a "a positive, cooperative relationship" with them. Would Secretary Clinton have pursued a "a positive, cooperative relationship" with Nazi Germany, had she held her position in the 1940s?

Teenager Hanged Himself After Girlfriend's Abortion

A teenager hanged himself weeks after discovering his ex-girlfriend had had an abortion. Leon Boulton was found hanging from a bannister at his home in Westcott Street, Hull. An inquest in Hull was told the 18-year-old and his girlfriend, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had an on-off relationship and she had been shocked when she discovered last September that she was pregnant. In a statement read to the court she said: "Leon said we should keep the baby but I wasn't sure."

Octuplet Mom Fears Hospital May Not Release Babies

Nadya Suleman apparently has bigger worries than taking care of her 14 children. Talk show host Dr. Phil McGraw says she may have to prove she can handle the load, or else have hospital officials withhold her newborn octuplets.

McGraw said the 33-year-old unemployed mother called him Tuesday, distraught that Kaiser Permanente officials told her they were concerned about the babies living at her home in suburban Los Angeles.

"What she is telling me is that unless and until she has a better living arrangement, that they are not likely to release the children to her," McGraw told the Los Angeles Times.
