Wendy Vitter, Pro-Life Trump judicial nominee, clears Senate committee vote

The Senate Judiciary Committee narrowly voted to approve one of President Donald Trump’s latest judicial nominees on Thursday, bringing her one step closer to becoming a federal judge.

The committee voted 11-10 along party lines in favor of Wendy Vitter serving on the U.S. District Court in New Orleans, NOLA reported. Vitter is an attorney for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New Orleans and the wife of former Republican Sen. David Vitter.

NARAL pledges $5 million to elect abortion advocates to U.S. House

The pro-abortion lobbying group NARAL has announced plans to spend $5 million dollars to return the U.S. House of Representatives to Democratic hands.

Their largest campaign spending plan yet is targeting the battleground states of California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin, the Washington Post reports.

Ireland has fallen to abortion

The Republic of Ireland has fallen. A coalition of the powerful – Irish politicians who ran on pro-life platforms a few short years ago before abruptly betraying their supporters, the international abortion industry, the media, much of academia, a gaggle of celebrities, and the European elites – have finally prevailed in their relentless efforts to persuade the Irish people to become the first to bring in abortion on demand by popular vote. They voted for abortion in wide margins, and many, if not most, did so with their eyes wide open. There was scarcely a lamppost in the country that did not feature a sign warning them that nearly all abortions would be perpetrated against healthy children, and that Ireland’s abortion regime would permit feticide up until six months, and that voting “Yes” would be granting the abortion industry a license to kill.

Ireland had achieved something truly remarkable: A nation in which the laws protected every right to life equally, a country which the World Health Organization listed as one of the safest for a pregnant woman. The abortion activists abhorred Ireland’s shining example, a nation that illustrated so clearly that the idea of abortion as healthcare is an ugly lie. They showed that it is truly possible to love both women and their children, and the abortion activists could not forgive them that. It is a sad irony that thousands who voted to repeal the 8th Amendment probably do not realize that they are only alive today because they were protected by the 8th Amendment in the womb.

World abortion numbers? Don’t trust Planned Parenthood’s favorite research org

This spring, the Guttmacher Institute released a study on global abortion rates. It analyzes abortion data from 193 countries and six territories between the years 2010 and 2014. The study finds that global abortion rates have declined since the early 1990s and that the declines in developed regions of the world have been considerably larger than declines in developing countries. This study has been covered by a number of media outlets including NBC News, U.S. News and World Report, and CNN.

Much of the attention has been focused on the cross-country comparisons. This study purportedly finds that abortion rates in countries with legal protections for the unborn are similar to abortion rates in countries where abortion is legal. Studies like this are very common. The medical journal The Lancet released similar studies in 2012 and 2016. The authors never explicitly state that pro-life laws have no impact. However, that is the spin the mainstream media eagerly applies while omitting any commentary from pro-life researchers.

In reality, these studies are very misleading.

China may lift its two-child policy - here's what that could mean

Amid reports that China may be considering putting an end to its two-child policy, experts are questioning the extent of a possible law change, and the effects it would have.

According to Bloomberg, the Chinese government had commissioned research on the childbirth restrictions in the country, and on the potential effects of lifting them. An announcement on the removal of the policy could come by the end of the year, or next year, the outlet reported, citing anonymous sources.

Reggie Littlejohn, founder and president of Women’s Rights Without Frontiers, said that removing the policy “would be a momentous victory for human rights and a vindication of the application of international pressure as a strategy to affect change within that totalitarian regime.”

“But I am holding off on this celebration,” she told CNA, noting that “the Chinese government just commissioned a study. It has not yet enacted the new law.”

HHS officially announces pro-life changes to Title X Family Planning Grant Program

Tuesday, Health and Human Services (HHS) filed a rule-making proposal with the Office of Management and Budget to restore Title X family planning regulations to prohibit grantees from co-locating with abortion clinics, or from referring clients for abortions.

In spite of pro-abortion distortions, the proposed rule does not cut one dime of funding for family planning. Rather it merely ensures that funding goes to health facilities that do not perform or promote abortion as family planning.

Last evening, longtime pro-life advocate Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ), hosted a Special Order hour for Members to speak in support of the Title X rule where many members voiced their strong support for the move.

Numerous other members of Congress issued statements, including James Lankford (R-OK) who said, “Regardless of our differences of opinion on when life begins, we should all agree that no taxpayer should be forced to fund abortion providers with their hard-earned tax dollars.”

Title X new rules will save more black babies

A black pro-life activist is cheering the Trump administration for attempting to separate taxpayers' money from the abortion business.

Day Gardner, president of the National Black Pro-Life Union, says the administration did the right thing by proposing new rules to the Title X family planning program that direct taxpayer funding away from the abortion industry.

"Black people are actually targeted for abortion and the numbers are astronomical," Gardner tells OneNewsNow. "If you think in terms of the inner-city areas especially, whether it be Philadelphia, Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta, abortion is well over 50 percent in all of those areas."

Pro-abortion study complains about inconvenient killing

A recent study claims aborting their unborn baby is the only option for pregnant women in some areas of the country and pro-lifers naturally have a response.

The study was done by Advancing New Standards in Reproductive Health, at the University of California San Francisco, which often publishes research propping up the abortion industry.

The study points to 100 cities in the country where women have to travel 100 miles or more to obtain an abortion.

Carol Tobias of the National Right to Life Committee says the study is attempting to make the public feel sympathetic for women, who are burdened by travelling a long distance, but the real issue behind the study is they can't kill their unborn child.

From there he transitioned to an overview of the current prognosis for the fall midterm elections, citing a new Reuters poll finding Republicans have taken the lead in the generic congressional ballot.

Actively pro-abortion judge with conflict of interest to stay on Daleiden baby parts case

The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals will allow Judge William Orrick (Judge Orrick has close ties to Planned Parenthood and his wife is an outspoken abortion activist) to continue presiding over David Daleiden’s legal battle with Planned Parenthood and the National Abortion Federation, despite apparent conflicts of interest.

The court rejected a petition from the Thomas More Society, which is representing Daleiden, to have Orrick removed from the case, Thomas More president and chief counsel Tom Brejcha has announced.

VIDEO: Texas Lt. Gov: Abortion is part of ‘devaluing life’ that leads to school shootings

On Sunday, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick appeared on ABC News’ “This Week” with George Stephanopoulos to discuss the case of a 17-year-old that shot and killed eight students and two teachers at Santa Fe High School in Texas last Friday. The two debated a number of topics, including the availability of guns and school security procedures, but Patrick’s central thesis was that the problem is rooted in America’s “culture of violence.”

The Republican lieutenant governor of Texas cited abortion as one of several factors that have degraded America’s respect for human life, which he believes was one of the causes of the recent school shooting in his state. “We have devalued life, whether it's through abortion, whether it's the breakup of families, through violent movies, and particularly violent video games,” Patrick said.

Members of Congress praise Planned Parenthood defunding, call abortion ‘inhumane’

Members of the House of Representatives spoke out today in favor of President Trump’s new Title X regulations, which will force abortion providers like Planned Parenthood to disassociate their abortion business from their birth control services in order to continue receiving funding. Planned Parenthood stands to lost $50-60 million annually because of this change, given its previously expressed unwillingness to separate abortion from its legitimate healthcare services.

This change will require Title X funding recipients to document that they have complied with state laws regarding reporting instances of sexual assault. Planned Parenthood currently has a very poor track record of reporting potential abuse, frequently returning victims to their abusers after their abortions.

19 states sue Trump admin to keep funding Planned Parenthood

In February, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced that abstinence messages and natural family planning methods would be given priority in distributing $260 million worth of family planning grants. The announcement did not mention artificial birth control.

In response, Planned Parenthood affiliates in Ohio, Utah, and Wisconsin, as well as the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and National Family Planning & Reproductive Health Association (NFPRHA) have filed lawsuits arguing that the administration lacks the discretion to make such a change under the terms of the original Title X legislation authorizing the grants.

Don’t Use Mental Health to Justify Abortion Law Change, Psychiatrists Warn

A group of psychiatrists have said in an open letter that they do not want to see spurious appeals to ‘mental health’ being used to justify abortion.

Abortion isn’t “healthcare” or “treatment”

The open letter, published Thursday, is signed by 26 consultant psychiatrists, and argues that presenting the case for repeal in terms of “healthcare” is misleading and inverts the true purpose of medicine.

It points out that “under the law as proposed by the Government, the vast majority of abortions would involve healthy babies and healthy women. This is not ‘healthcare’ but something else entirely.” The fact that abortion would be allowed up to 12 weeks for any reason, it goes on, “makes it even more misleading for Government spokespeople or pro-choice advocates to continually present abortion as a form of ‘treatment’.”

President Trump to cut Planned Parenthood funding

The Trump administration is announcing its intentions to cut a significant amount of taxpayer funding from Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers.

The proposal will not prohibit counseling for clients about abortion, but neither will it include the current, potentially illegal mandate that projects must counsel and refer for abortion,” an administration official said in an interview with the Weekly Standard. “This proposal does not necessarily defund Planned Parenthood, as long as they’re willing to disentangle taxpayer funds from abortion as a method of family planning, which is required by the Title X law. Any grantees that perform, support, or refer for abortion have a choice – disentangle themselves from abortion or fund their activities with privately raised funds.

Iowa attorney general refuses to defend heartbeat abortion ban

The Democratic attorney general of Iowa is refusing to defend the state’s new ban on aborting babies with detectable heartbeats, citing his personal opposition to the duly-enacted law.

“Attorney General Tom Miller has disqualified himself from representing the state” in the inevitable court battle over the law, Iowa Solicitor General Jeffrey Thompson announced in a letter Tuesday. “The disqualification is based on the Attorney General's determination that he could not zealously assert the state's position because of his core belief that the statute, if upheld, would undermine rights and protections for women.”

ILLINOIS RATIFIES THE EQUAL RIGHTS AMENDMENT

The vote taken shortly after 8pm on May 30th ratified the Equal Rights Amendment in Illinois.  The vote was 72-45.   This leaves just one more state to ratify the ERA and amend the U.S. Constitution and is one more step to further endangering the unborn.

Leading pro-abortion groups – including NARAL, the ACLU, and Planned Parenthood -- have strongly urged state courts to construe state ERAs, containing language virtually identical to the language of the 1972 federal ERA proposal, to invalidate laws that treat abortion differently from other “medical procedures,” including laws restricting tax-funding of abortion and laws requiring parental notification or consent for minors’ abortions.

Judge Rules California's Assisted Suicide Law Unconstitutional

A California judge overturned the state's assisted suicide law this morning, ruling that the legislature acted outside the scope of its authority when it enacted the End of Life Option Act.

The Act's sponsors introduced the bill in a special session of the legislature convened by Governor Jerry Brown to address Medicaid funding shortfalls, services for the disabled, and in-home health support services.

Life Legal attorneys appeared in court this morning to argue that the End of Life Option Act, which decriminalizes physician-assisted suicide, is not related or even incidental to the stated purpose of the special session. Suicide is not health care.

Riverside Superior Court Judge Daniel Ottolia agreed, holding that "the End of Life Option Act does not fall within the scope of access to healthcare services," and that it "is not a matter of health care funding."

Planned Parenthood sues Iowa for banning abortion of babies with beating hearts

Planned Parenthood and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) are suing Iowa over its law prohibiting abortions on most babies with detectable heartbeats, which is slated to go into effect on July 1.

“Iowa politicians have tried to ban virtually all abortions for women in our state,” said Rita Bettis, the ACLU’s Iowa legal director. “In the 45 years since Roe [v. Wade], no federal or state court has upheld such a dangerous law.”
