American Medical Association Attacks Pro-life Pregnancy Centers…Again

Once again, the American Medical Association has forfeited its authority on medical ethics to the dictates of the abortion lobby.

In an article published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) this July, pregnancy help centers are confusingly maligned as ideologically driven institutions that are simultaneously “dangerous” and ineffective at providing help to pregnant women.

Using abortionists (of all people) to pontificate on medical ethics, the article sets out to prove its title—“At ‘Crisis Pregnancy Centers,’ Critics say, Ideology Trumps Evidence”—but ends up revealing its own ideologically driven agenda instead.

A person's a person, no matter how small.

"As a man, I’m trying to do what I can in community service, as a dad, as a coach, as a volunteer, as a teacher, as a husband, & serving meals to the homeless. ...We’re all God’s children, we’re all equal."

With the Sen Judiciary Kavanaugh hearings underway, here's a quick recap of what's at stake for the Pro-Life Movement

US top court nominee Kavanaugh praises judicial ‘precedent,’ stays mum on Roe v. Wade vote

Confirmation hearing for Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh (Day 2), Sept. 5, 2018.

Judge Brett Kavanaugh lavished praise on the importance of judicial precedent to the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, but refused to answer whether he would vote to uphold or overturn Roe v. Wade.

Kavanaugh’s answers are consistent with past public statements he has made, and it remains uncertain whether they reflect genuine deference to Roe or are phrased to appease senators who could cast the deciding vote for his confirmation. His thin record of abortion-related statements and rulings does not conclusively answer the question, but the closest is a 2017 speech on the jurisprudence of his “first judicial hero,” the late Chief Justice William Rehnquist.  Kavanaugh specifically cited Rehnquist’s opposition to Roe.

Pro-abortion activists protest, attempt to shout down Kavanaugh hearings

Protesters interrupt start of Kavanaugh hearing, Sept. 4, 2018.

Capitol Hill police arrested a total of 70 people, Politico reports, charging 61 with disorderly conduct and another nine with “crowding, obstructing, or incommoding.” Most of the protesters were women.

Among those arrested and forcibly removed from the chamber was Women’s March leader Linda Sarsour, National Review reports. Her group officially took credit for “disrupting the Kavanaugh hearings every few minutes, with hundreds of women prepared to get arrested to prevent these hearings from moving forward.” NARAL Washington and Missouri executive directors Tiffany Hankins and Alison Dreith, UltraViolet co-founder Shaunna Thomas, and actress Piper Perabo were also arrested.

REPORT: U.S. Pregnancy Centers Served Nearly 2 Million People with Free Services in 2017

REPORT: U.S. Pregnancy Centers Served Nearly 2 Million People with Free Services in 2017

Today, a comprehensive report on the work of pregnancy help centers was released, celebrating 50 years of service and examining how the movement has evolved over the last half century.

The 80-page report, “A Half Century of Hope, A Legacy of Life and Love: Pregnancy Center Service Report, Third Edition,” produced by the Charlotte Lozier Institute, presents key findings from 2,600 U.S. pregnancy help centers affiliated with one or more of the three major national networks—Care Net, Heartbeat International, and NIFLA—as well as other parent pregnancy center organizations.

The bulk of community cost savings comes from the 400,100 ultrasounds performed at pregnancy centers last year. Those services saved communities over $100 million.

Over the last decade, pregnancy help medical clinics offering ultrasound have more than doubled, from approximately 700 centers in 2008 to 1,944 in 2017. Today, more than 7 in 10 centers provide ultrasound.

Outrageous: Bioethicist says parents may have ‘right’ to kill born children

Outrageous: Bioethicist says parents may have ‘right’ to kill born children

Finnish bioethicist Joona Räsänen has argued in the medical journal Bioethics that pro-life arguments against infanticide “are not convincing” and “cannot show infanticide to be immoral.” While Räsänen has not argued for infanticide to be legal — yet — he does argue that parents might have the moral right to kill their born children.

[T]here might be an argument that gives, for example, the genetic parents a right to kill (or leave to die) their newborn infant even if the infant has a right to life. For example, it might be argued that people have a right to their genetic privacy and having the newborn infant in the world that carries the genetic material of the genetic parents violates their right to genetic privacy. Put another way: the fetus does not have a right to the genetic material of her parents.

Older children are different, he claims, because they have been alive longer and have “a strong time‐relative interest to continue living.”

Parents remember Alfie Evans, celebrate birth of second son: ‘We have two amazing children’

Parents remember Alfie Evans, celebrate birth of second son: ‘We have two amazing children’

Thomas Evans and Kate James, the parents of 23-month-old Alfie Evans, who passed away nearly five days after UK courts refused to allow him to remain on life support or travel to another country for treatment, appeared on a UK program recently with their second son, Tom, born just four months after Alfie’s death. According to the UK’s Daily Mail, the couple finally learned during Kate’s second pregnancy that they are carriers of a condition which caused Alfie’s significant health difficulties — “a degenerative brain disease called GABA-transaminase deficiency.”

Their newborn son was tested for the same disease but was found not to have the condition. The couple says they have a 25 percent chance of passing the condition on to any children they conceive.

Planned Parenthood’s host of abuses should be reason enough to defund

Planned Parenthood’s host of abuses should be reason enough to defund

Planned Parenthood, the nation’s top abortion provider holding 35% of the nation’s marketshare in abortions, is not good for the taxpayer. The corporation has a long history of corruption, which abortion-friendly media and politicians willingly overlook. The spin and propaganda regularly disseminated about Planned Parenthood’s abortion business is so pervasive that the truth is often overlooked. Here are some facts, backed up by documented evidence:

In 1970, Fordham law professor Robert M. Byrn detailed his objections to abortion in a case published in the Notre Dame Law Review. Byrn, a criminal law specialist, gave explicit details of the abortion procedure in this article and also filed an unsuccessful challenge to New York’s state abortion law. Byrn wrote of the preborn baby, in part, saying, “The fetus at eight weeks has a pumping heart with fully deployed blood vessels and has all other internal organs. The face is completely formed, and the arms, legs, hands, feet, toes and fingers are partially formed. The fetus will react to tickling of the mouth or nose, and there is readable electrical activity coming from the brain.”

Byrn then shared some haunting statements from physician Paul E. Rockwell, M.D., Director of Anesthesiology at Leonard Hospital in Troy, New York, who said, “Photographs of the fetus around the eighth week present an unmistakable human baby with rather blunt features and extremities.  However, such pictures invariably have been taken after the death of the fetus following an abortion,” adding, “It is death which superimposes the bluntness of appearance.”

Illinois Senator Karen McConnaughay to step down next Monday

Illinois Senator Karen McConnaughay to step down next Monday

Illinois Senator Karen McConnaughay (R-West Dundee) says next Monday will be her last day serving the 33rd Senate District after being first elected in 2012.

Some of her words as posted on Facebook Friday afternoon: ...six years ago I came to understand human trafficking and what a heinous problem it is in Illinois and I am proud of the human trafficking task force that I co-chaired to create recommendations on combating human slavery. It is my hope the General Assembly will use that road map to create meaningful legislation to end this epidemic.

McHenry County Blog reports that in July, former St. Charles mayor Don DeWitte was picked by GOP committeemen for the district to complete McConnaughay's term.
