Massive Group Marches for Life in Washington Americans who came from all over the United States gathered in our nation's capital on January 22 to participate in the 35th annual March for Life. Though official attendance figures were unavailable as we write, observers speaking on the EWTN television network said it appeared the number of marchers exceed last year's 200,000. The march started at the Ellipse of the National Mall and continued down Constitution Avenue to the Supreme Court building. It was first held in 1974 to mark the first anniversary of the Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade decision, in which the Supreme Court ruled unconstitutional all state laws prohibiting abortion. An estimated 50,000,000 babies have been killed in the womb in the United States since the decision was given. http://www.thenewamerican.com/culture/family/715 |
