Crisis pregnancy centers under attack

America's crisis pregnancy centers, designed to help mothers with problem pregnancies choose life, are under attack.

Over the last five years, even during the Bush administration, there has been an uptick in attacks against pregnancy centers. Kristin Hansen is with Care Net, which has 1,100 centers around the country, and she is looking to the November election.

"So, the political climate will have an impact -- but what's really having an impact are just the growth and the effectiveness and the strategizing of pregnancy centers to become more effective, to save more lives," she explains. "As pregnancy centers grow, so the attacks on pregnancy centers increase."

Hansen believes an even further increase in attacks could occur if a pro-abortion administration takes over the White House. "Pro-choice groups would be emboldened," she contends. "We're already anticipating a number of attacks in the states next year in 2009, and pregnancy centers are already working on defending and promoting their work at the state legislatures."

On a federal level, bills have been introduced accusing pro-life pregnancy centers of false advertising, which Hansen says is absolutely untrue. LifeNews.com reports that Obama, if elected, could shut down pregnancy centers across the country. The article calls Obama the "lap dog" of Planned Parenthood and NARAL, saying he will give them his full support if he reaches the White House.

Care Net alone works with 350,000 pregnant women every year to save lives.
