Springfield Right to Life Peaceful Prayer Rally

On May 1st, Planned Parenthood is hosting a Lobby Day for Reproductive Health Access and in response to this, Springfield Right to Life is hosting a peaceful prayer rally beginning at the Springfield Right to Life Office (519 Bruns Lane) from 11:30am - 1:00pm.

We are not there to protest Planned Parenthood’s right to lobby; we are simply going to pray there on the public property outside Planned Parenthood that these bills do not get passed and that the end of abortion comes soon.

Please come and bring your friends! Let our prayerful presence speak out for life!

Let prayer be our response to these bills that are still circulating in our legislation.

Planned Parenthood supporter challenges Pro-life Democrat Rep. Dan Lipinski in Illinois

Pro-life Democrat Rep. Dan Lipinski in Illinois is facing a second challenge to his Congressional seat from a political supporter of Planned Parenthood. Challenger Marie Newman recently announced her second attempt to unseat  (D-IL.) for Congress, who has been deemed by news outlets like the Washington Times as “one of last pro-life Democrats.” This election is being seen as a referendum on Lipinski’s pro-life stance, determining if there is room for people who do not support abortion in the Democratic party. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson calls his friend with Down syndrome “The Rock’s Rock”

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is sharing part of the story of how he became the strong person he is today and the credit he owes to his life-long friend, Milton McBride Rosen.

Tampa’s ABC Action News reports, “When they were growing up in Tampa, Milton, who has Down syndrome, taught the Rock how to work out, how to lift weights and how to never, ever quit.”

In a new short film about Milton, produced by Johnson and Good Morning America host Robin Roberts, Johnson shares how Milton has been an inspiration in his life. Johnson and Milton met when “The Rock” was just five- or six-years-old.  Click here for more.

Indiana Governor signs bills banning dismembering living unborn babies and enhancing conscience protections

On Wednesday Gov. Eric Holcomb signed into law House Enrolled Act 1211, which bans the practice of dismembering living unborn children, and Senate Bill 201, which expands Indiana law to extend conscience protections to additional medical providers. Click here for more.

Abortionist Ashutosh “Ron” Virmani shouts at pro-lifers: ‘Rape them and send them here’

Abortionist Ashutosh “Ron” Virmani is raising eyebrows yet again, after pro-lifers caught him on camera yelling “rape them and send them here” as he pulled into his abortion facility earlier this month. Virmani is already well-known to many, as he has expressed racist views in the past, has previously had his medical license suspended, and was even arrested for rape.

In the video, which was published on Facebook last week, Virmani pulls into A Preferred Women’s Health Center, the facility where he commits abortions. He slows down and stops in front of a group of pro-lifers who are filming, and shouts at them, “Rape them and send them here!” Before anyone can respond, he repeats it again, and then speeds off. Susan B. Anthony List launches targeted campaign for Born Alive bill

The pro-life organization Susan B. Anthony List has launched a new campaign to pressure members of Congress to sign the discharge petition for the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.

If 218 members of the House of Representatives sign the discharge petition, the bill will move to the floor, where it will be considered. Presently, 199 members have signed, including all but two Republican members, but only two Democrats: Reps. Dan Lipinski (D-IL) and Collin Peterson (D-MN).  Click here for more.

Pregnancy center opens next door to Planned Parenthood in Flossmoor Illinois

When Planned Parenthood opened a new abortion facility in Flossmoor, Illinois, just south of Chicago last January, Kris Cortes and her husband Dennis knew they needed to act.

So together with a small band of pro-life friends, they held a meeting in the Cortes’ living room and quickly formed a grassroots group that would come to be known as Southland Coalition for Life. They adopted three goals: to educate the community about the sanctity of life; to initiate a movement of prayer within homes, churches and at the Planned Parenthood abortion clinic; and to open a pregnancy help center to make life-affirming pregnancy options and support available to women in the community. Uber driver fired for refusing to drive woman to get abortion

Uber has permanently banned a driver in upstate New York for refusing to take a 20-year-old college student to an abortion facility.

The incident went viral on mainstream media after the student wrote about the “worst, most backward day of my life” on Reddit. Uber confirmed “that the driver was removed from the service as his actions violated the company’s community guidelines,” according to Yahoo Lifestyle. Click here for more.

Trump admin removes pro-abortion language from UN anti-rape resolution

The Trump administration secured the removal of pro-abortion language from a United Nations resolution against rape in war zones Tuesday by threatening to veto the measure if the final version contained a notorious euphemism for abortion.

The UN Security Council had been debating updates a resolution first approved in 2013 to combat the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war. The United States objected to a reference in the document calling for “comprehensive health services, including sexual and reproductive health” for “survivors of sexual violence,” on the grounds that “reproductive health” is a longstanding term of art for abortion and related services. Trump abortion rule cutting $60M of Planned Parenthood funding blocked

Federal Judge Michael J. McShane has announced he will block the Trump administration policy prohibiting federal funding to contraception providers that offer abortions or refer patients to abortion providers.

On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Michael J. McShane criticized President Trump’s changes to the Title X program announing he will block the Trump administration policy prohibiting federal funding to contraception providers that offer abortions or refer patients to abortion providers.
Set to take effect May 3, he said that he will soon issue an opinion granting a preliminary injunction against the changes, which abortion proponents have dubbed a “gag rule.”  Click here for more

House leadership aims to ensure legal protections for surviving infants, despite staunch opposition from all but three Democrats

A debate has been reignited in Congress and various state legislatures over legal protections for infants born alive after a failed abortion attempt. After a measure from Senator Ben Sasse, R-Neb., failed in the Senate, Minority Whip Steve Scalise, R-La., is trying to keep the issue alive in the House by leading a “discharge petition” to bypass Democratic leadership and bring the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act to a vote after Republicans have been blocked in their direct attempts to do so 32 times.  Click here for more

California Supreme Court issued a stay for the case for Planned Parenthood investigators David Robert Daleiden and Sandra Susan Merritton trial for ‘conspiracy’

An email received today from Thomas More Society’s public relations firm, stating that as of Friday evening, April 19th, the California Supreme Court issued a stay for the case The People of the State of California v. David Robert Daleiden and Sandra Susan Merritt — “suspended until further notice from the California Supreme Court.” According to the emailed press release, “The stay was based on the political bias and selective prosecution. Who’s paying millions for this abortion training program? Taxpayers.

Abortion training is being orchestrated out of a University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) program which receives millions in government dollars. UCSF trains abortion providers through their Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health. According to Bixby’s annual reports, in 2014, nearly $22 million dollars (52 percent) of Bixby’s revenue came from the taxpayer, although the report does not specify whether the funds were state or federal. By 2015, although Government dollars made up only 18 percent of Bixby’s revenue, it totaled over $18 million in taxpayer dollars. Bixby is conveniently located in California, which permits millions in taxpayer dollars to fund abortions and has no requirement that abortion numbers be reported to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) for data analysis.

As more women die from abortion pill, the FDA approves a generic version

The FDA has approved a generic version of the abortion pill Mifeprex, at a time when more deaths are being reported and the abortion industry is pushing for the dangerous abortion inducing chemicals to be dispensed online or by mail. According to a notice from the FDA, the generic version is approved for use as an abortifacient. This news comes just a day before the FDA updated its adverse effects reports through 2018, stating, “As of December 31, 2018, there were reports of 24 deaths of women associated with Mifeprex since the product was approved in September 2000, including two cases of ectopic pregnancy resulting in death; and several cases of severe systemic infection (also called sepsis), including some that were fatal…” The FDA’s 2017 report put the number of deaths at 22.

This means that in 2018 alone, two more women died from taking the abortion pill. And yet, now a generic version is going to be made available.  To date, the report documents nearly 4,200 reported adverse effects, including hospitalization and other serious complications.

Vandals hit Students for Life display at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville

An Illinois chapter of Students for Life (pictured) is reporting vandalism of one of its college displays. The group at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville (SIUE) reported that a sign marking a cemetery display was stolen. The group wrote of the incident on its Facebook page:

Yesterday, we had a Cemetery of the Innocent display at SIUE to show how many innocent lives are lost in just one year to abortion (926,000 in 2014, the most recent data from the Guttmacher Institute). Unfortunately, our sign was taken just before we were going to pick up the display.

While it was disappointing to see the animosity some have for the pro-life cause, there were many positive points from the day. We had discussions with students about abortion in a compassionate and understanding manner, and many students saw the the display while our sign was still up. We also collected signatures in support of smart paid family leave proposals in Congress. Thank you to everyone that came out to help with the display; even though it can be hard on days like yesterday, we are lucky to have the chance to stand for those who can’t stand for themselves.

Pro-Life Displays on College Campuses do work as this one at Xavier University in Ohio has

Pro-lifers at Xavier University in Ohio (pictured) recent put up a Students for Life “Planned Parenthood Truth” display, with attention-getting pink banners. “Planned Parenthood Truth” gives students information about the abortion giant that they won’t get in the mainstream media, allowing them to “read real reports from public health departments and mainstream news sources about Planned Parenthood’s facilities and their failure to protect women,” writes Matt Lamb of Students for Life of America. “At the end of the display, students are asked if they trust Planned Parenthood.”

At the end of the display, Xavier students had spoken with 110 individuals on campus about Planned Parenthood, and at least 33 people to whom they spoke reported that they had a change of opinion about the corporation, shifting from once trusting the organization to reconsider. 68 percent of those visiting the display stated that Planned Parenthood shouldn’t get taxpayer funding, and just 19 percent said they would “strongly trust” the abortion giant’s services, or trust it with taxpayer funding. Xavier U’s Lily Hutkowski said that “other groups have even had success getting students to cancel their appointments after seeing the display.”
