Judge rejects request to transport Alfie Evans to Italy

Judge rejects request to transport Alfie Evans to Italy

Evidently there is nothing Alfie Evans can do, no matter how contrary to predictions of the medical “experts,” that will persuade trial judge Justice Hayden to allow his parents to take their very ill toddler to Bambino Gesú Hospital, in Italy.

Doctors at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool took Alfie off the ventilator at roughly 9pm London time. Contrary to assurances made during the seven-day hearing before Justice Hayden that Alfie’s death “could be quite quick” once he was taken off of life-support, Alfie is holding his own almost a day later, breathing independently.

A spokeswoman for the Christian Legal Centre, which is representing Tom Evans and Kate James, said

“Alfie has survived much longer than the doctors predicted, lending support to the request from Alfie’s parents for Alfie to be seen by medical experts in Italy

“An air ambulance is now waiting outside Alder Hey Hospital ready to take Alfie to hospital in Italy.”

But Justice Hayden was unpersuaded, according to Rebecca Koncienzcy and Josh Parry of the Liverpool Echo. He wanted today’s rejection to be the “final chapter in the case of this extraordinary little boy.”

Alfie Evans case to be heard AGAIN this afternoon as tot survives 15 hours at Alder Hey hospital without life support

Alfie Evans case to be heard AGAIN this afternoon as tot survives 15 hours at Alder Hey hospital without life support
Tom Evans, 21, told supporters his 23-month-old son was taken off his ventilator at 9.17pm yesterday, with doctors "gobsmacked" that the little boy was still fighting and breathing on his own 15 hours later.

A High Court judge is this afternoon set to oversee a further hearing - with the case to be discussed about 3.30pm at Manchester.

It could be another glimmer of hope for the tot's family after they lost their last-ditch appeal at the High Court on Monday, having hoped that the tot would be permitted to travel overseas for a possible diagnosis and treatment of his degenerative neurological condition.

Alfie Evans is still alive.

The infant, who has an undiagnosed neurodegenerative disorder, was removed from a ventilator yesterday at 9:17 PM British time and has been breathing for himself for the past 13 hours.

“He’s now on oxygen,” Alfie’s father Tom told reporters in a press conference outside Alder Hey hospital shortly before 7:00 this morning. Tom said that the “doctors are gobsmacked” that Alfie continues to live.  Alfie has also been permitted water.

U.N. commission fails after U.S., Africa refuse to back abortion ‘rights’

U.N. commission fails after U.S., Africa refuse to back abortion ‘rights’

The United Nations Commission on Population and Development has concluded without producing an outcome document, thanks to opposition from the United States and all 54 countries that make up the African group. The refusal to accept the document involved sovereignty and the push for abortion “rights” within the document.

The theme of this year’s panel was migration, and the African group successfully lobbied for more expansive migrant rights. Developing countries can gain funding if the document passes, showing just how seriously the African group took their concerns about sovereignty and abortion. The African nations wanted language that would have protected their rights to choose their own policies on controversial issues like abortion, which the African group specifically mentioned as having too many references in the document. The United States likewise was concerned about the push for abortion within the document.

NBC Comedy, Superstore: Unborn Child a ‘Parasite,’ Like ‘a Bag of Garbage’

NBC Comedy, Superstore: Unborn Child a ‘Parasite,’ Like ‘a Bag of Garbage’

NBC’s comedy Superstore joined the ranks of other Hollywood shows that devalue unborn human life, likening a preborn baby to a “horrible parasite eating and pi__ing inside” of the surrogate mother and comparing him/her to a “bag of garbage” who should “figure out its own gender.”

Thursday night’s episode “Gender Reveal,” had surrogate mother Dina (Lauren Ash), an employee of “Cloud 9” superstore who is carrying a baby for her boss Glenn (Mark McKinney) and his wife Jerusha (Kerri Kenney), become frightened after seeing the unborn child she’s carrying for the first time on a 4D sonogram.

Italy grants Alfie Evans citizenship

“The procedures to pull the plug on Alfie were briefly suspended Monday afternoon”

Italy grants Alfie Evans citizenship
ANZA, the leading wire service in Italy, is reporting that Italy has given critically ill Alfie Evans citizenship.

Given the utter determination of Alder Hey Hospital and the entirety of the English judiciary not to allow Tom Evans and Kate James to move Alfie to Italy, it remains an open question whether this will have a lasting impact on the decision to withdraw the 23-month-old toddler’s ventilator.

But the immediate impact is absolutely critical: “The procedures to pull the plug on Alfie were briefly suspended Monday afternoon,” according to ANZA. Here is the lead from today’s story:

(ANSA) – Rome, April 23 – Italy on Monday gave Italian citizenship to terminally ill British toddler Alfie Evans so that he can hopefully be “immediately” moved to Italy from Liverpool, where doctors are set to pull the plug on him, the foreign ministry said. “Foreign Minister Angelino Alfano and Interior Minister Marco Minniti have granted citizenship to little Alfie,” the ministry said.

“In this way the Italian government hopes that being an Italian citizen will enable the immediate transfer of the child to Italy”.

It would be up to Alfie’s parents to decide his fate if he were moved to Italy, deputy head of the national bioethics board (CNB), Maria Pia Garavaglia, told ANSA Monday. “In Italy, with the living will, we have an explicit law on end of life issues and, as far as minors are concerned, the holders of the right to choose are the parents,” she said. “It is clear that with the acquisition of Italian citizenship Italian law will be applied, so it will be the parents that will decide,” she said.

According to the story, Tom Evans said, “Alfie has been granted Italian citizenship, we are waiting for the Italian foreign minister to call [British Foreign Minister] Boris Johnson.”

The ERA and Abortion - Congressman Henry Hyde saw the Connection

Congressman Henry J. Hyde appeared before the House Judiciary Committee as a witness to provide testimony on the relationship between abortion and the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA).  He referred to the relationship as the “abortion connection”.
The following are excerpts from his testimony.

“And recent experience suggests that the ERA, if it is proposed and ratified without an explicit provision against its use as a proabortion device, will, in fact, be used to sweep away the minimal protection of unborn children that the courts currently allow, and also to mandate tax funding for abortions.”

“The Court’s holdings have denied the constitutional right to a Government-financed abortion on the ground that poor women who desire abortions are not within any of the so-called suspects classes against whom no law can discriminate without triggering strict scrutiny by the courts.”

“Strict scrutiny almost always results in the law being struck down as unconstitutional.  If either sex or poverty had been designated by the Court as a suspect classification, then the Court would almost certainly have found a right to abortion funding.”

“Since 1970 the ERA advocates have emphasized that the amendment’s principal legal effect would be to make sex a suspect classification under the Constitution. The most important suspect classification at present is race.  If sex discrimination were treated like race discrimination, Government refusal to fund abortions would be treated like a refusal to fund medical procedures that effect members of minority races.”

“Other laws regulating abortion would be treated similarly. Conscience clauses, for instance, which give doctors and nurses in State-supported institutions the right to refuse to participate in abortions, would be treated like laws giving State officials the right to deny services to blacks but not to whites.”

“Unless abortion-related cases are clearly and explicitly excluded from the scope of the ERA, this constitutional amendment making sex a suspect classification would provide the ACLU and other proabortion litigants with the argument they need to persuade the crucial Justice.”

“If the Federal ERA were ratified there would be no need for silence or evasion, so we would see all laws regulating abortion challenged vigorously on the argument that they are unconstitutional discriminations against women.”

“In the meantime, many of those that are committed both to abortion and the ERA will continue to avoid discussing the connection.”

“I can only explain the resistance to the insertion of clarifying language in the ERA as additional evidence that many of the proponents do intend to use it as a tool in the abortion struggle.”

“It would be especially tragic if legislators who do wish to minimize the killing of pre-born children were to give pro-abortion lawyers and pro-abortion judges a new and powerful tool with which to enhance and extend the abortion right, especially by mandating the use of tax funds to pay for abortions.”

Senate vote on Equal Rights Amendment reignites 35-year-old debate

"Those who are now pushing the ERA are banking on a new generation who are not fully informed about the problems with the language and impact of the ERA," Elise Bouc, the state chairwoman of Stop ERA Illinois, told Praire State Wire.

"If we really want an amendment for women, we need to write a better amendment with clear exemptive language that enables us to respect the biological differences of women, and we need to include language that makes it clear that those equal rights for women will not be used to mandate abortion rights that harm the unborn child," Bouc said.

Alfie Evans’ dad meets with Pope Francis to ask that he intervene to help Alfie be transferred to hospital in Rome

Pope Francis said to have agreed to “ramp up the campaign to stop his life support being switched off”

This photo of Tom Evans kissing the Pope’s hand in the Vatican appeared on the Facebook of “Alfies Army.”

If the last ditch effort to save Alfie Evans wasn’t already dramatic enough, on Tuesday Tom Evans, Alfie’s dad, flew to the Vatican to raise the issue of removing Alfie from the Alder Hey Childrens’ Hospital in Liverpool, England, and flying him to the Vatican-affiliated Bambin Gesú Pediatric hospital in Rome, according to reporter Liverpool Echo reporter Josh Parry.

In a Facebook post this morning, Evans wrote that following the private 20-minute meeting, he was alerted the pope sent an urgent request to bambino to take Alfie as soon as possible. After the letter the president of bambino gesu called me in for a meeting, she wants to take Alfie as soon as tomorrow and will do everything for him even if we find a diagnosis they will continue to search for a cure.

She was such a lovely women and said they will do everything they can for Alfie as they would with any other

Pray hard this is alfies step to his desperately needed transfer

The Daily Mail characterized the meeting as being set up by an Italian bishop. Martin Robinson wrote, “The Pontiff agreed to ramp up the campaign to stop his life support being switched off by Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool.”

The Pope offered new support from the Vatican’s secretary of state to ensure a ‘decisive diplomatic channel is opened up for Alfie’ and to ensure ‘the dignity of his life is respected’.

Robinson added that “Alfie’s father also asked the Pope to consider granting his son asylum and told him

‘Please help us save our innocent child and give us the grace of asylum to keep our family safe and to stop all of this.

‘If your holiness helps our child you will be potentially saving the future for our children in the UK, especially the disabled.

‘We pray the problem we are facing is solved peacefully and respectfully no child deserves this, especially not a child of God’.

Federal judge: Trump admin must inform illegal immigrants of ‘right’ to abortion

A federal judge has ruled that the federal government must notify underage illegal immigrants in its custody that they have a legal right to obtain abortions.

US District Judge Tanya Chutkan, an Obama appointee, ruled Friday that, starting “immediately,” the Trump administration must distribute written notices of the “right” to abortion “to all unaccompanied minors,” the Washington Times reports.

UN ‘human rights’ official: Time for ‘courage’ to demand abortion enshrinement

United Nations headquarters in New York

"Sexual and reproductive health and rights are integral to the dignity of women and girls," said Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights Kate Gilmore at a gathering of UN experts and bureaucrats in Geneva last month.

Gilmore invited some thirty international experts of two UN human rights treaty monitoring committees to "confront" the UN General Assembly and "defy" UN member states which have repeatedly refused to recognize an international right to abortion

Abortionist on trial for murder, media blackout ensues

Abortionist on trial for murder, media blackout ensues

The criminal trial of an abortionist, Robert Rho, who caused the death of an abortion patient in 2016, is currently underway in the Queens Supreme Court in New York. Although it is a case that should be of national interest, few people are aware of it. That's because the trial is experiencing a complete media blackout.

The trial involves the death of 30-year old Jaime Morales, who reported to the Liberty Women's Healthcare office in Flushing, New York, on July 9, 2016, for an elective second trimester abortion with clinic owner Robert Rho.

The Equal Rights Amendment and Illinois Legislators - Action Alert

On April 11, 2018 the Illinois Senate passed the Equal Rights Amendment as Senate Joint Resolution Constitution Amendment 4 (SJRCA4). The ERA was introduced to the states in 1972. An objective reading of the language and history of the ERA makes clear that expansion of abortion rights has always been a principle objective of the ERA proponents. In 1983 when Congress attempted to re-introduce the ERA to the states, the proponents of the ERA rejected proposed abortion neutral language. The writings of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg reveal the intended scope of the ERA is to greatly increase the scrutiny of pro-life legislation.

A vote for the ERA is a vote for overturning abortion restrictions and enshrining abortion rights in the US Constitution. A vote for the ERA is a vote against the unborn child. State court judges have held that their state ERAs mandate “HB40” style taxpayer funding of elective abortions. The ERA further threatens parental notification and consent laws throughout the country, along with every reasonable regulation on abortion.

While we are disappointed with all 43 Senators who voted for abortion, we are gravely disturbed by those who solicited pro-life support and presented themselves as pro-life but voted for the ERA.  Their vote was a vote in opposition to life and will not be ignored.

The following all voted for the ERA...

The fight now goes to the House. The Illinois Federation for Right to Life PAC, Illinois Citizens for Life PAC, Illinois Family Action PAC, Illinois Family PAC, and Lake County Life PAC will not endorse or support any legislator that casts a vote for such a sweeping pro-abortion piece of legislation as the ERA.

Please contact your state representative by phone and email and encourage them to vote NO on the ERA (Bill #SJRCA4).  Remind them that this poorly written amendment will harm women and the unborn child.  ERA  will overturn all abortion restrictions and mandate taxpayer funding for all elective medicaid abortions.

More information on the ERA can be found from the links below.

To find contact information for your legislators, click here.

The ERA will harm our unborn children by overturning all restrictions on abortions and mandating taxpayer funding for elective medicaid abortions.

Leading pro-abortion groups – including NARAL, the ACLU, and Planned Parenthood -- have strongly urged state courts to construe state ERAs, containing language virtually identical to the language of the 1972 federal ERA proposal, to invalidate laws that treat abortion differently from other “medical procedures,” including laws restricting tax-funding of abortion and laws requiring parental notification or consent for minors’ abortions.

More information about the ERA visit:  http://eagleforum.org/topics/era.html

Congressmen urge U.S. gov’t to cut abortion groups out of family planning funds

Chris Smith, R-NJ

Lawmakers from a conservative caucus in the House of Representatives are calling on the Department of Health and Human Services to deny family planning subsidies to abortion providers.

Reps. Ron Estes, R-KS, Vicky Hartzler, R-MO, and Chris Smith, R-NJ, are three members of the conservative Republican Study Committee currently collecting signatures for a letter to HHS Secretary Alex Azar, The Hill reports. It calls on the department to make any entity that offers referrals for abortions ineligible for taxpayer dollars under Title X.

Hospital restricts visiting access to Alfie Evans in response to ‘Alfie’s Army’ protests

The father of Alfie Evans just revealed a letter notifying him that Alder Hey Children’s Hospital is restricting the number of people who can visit his son.

The father of Alfie Evans just revealed a letter notifying him that Alder Hey Children’s Hospital is restricting the number of people who can visit his son.

It claims that on Thursday night, protests on Alfie’s behalf “caused significant disruption, stress and anxiety to other families and the staff.” This “disruption” allegedly included a large number of visitors entering the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) without permission, shouting, filming patients and visitors without their consent, and generally “behaving in a manner” other patients and staff considered “threatening, intimidating and unsafe.”

Court seizes custody of Alfie Evans from parents

Alfie's Army

The parents of baby Alfie Evans have lost custody over their son and he has now become a “ward of the court,” effective noon April 14th. The news was shared by the family’s media coordinator.

“We are outraged that in further legally indefensible steps during the night, the hospital obtained a faxed order making Alfie a ward of the court, removing parental rights from Tom and Kate over their son Alfie, taking effect at noon today,” a press release authorized by the family’s legal team states.

“This once again is logically backwards, as all parents are responsible to protect their child from threats to life, and the hospital is effectively claiming that it is more dangerous for Alfie to live in peace with love and quality care than to die by the hands of his doctors. This is not a sign of a free country; this is dictatorship of the state

The news comes after Alfie’s parents Tom and Kate attempted to remove their child from Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool yesterday afternoon after being assured that Alfie was neither a “prisoner” nor a ward of the court. They had a medical team prepared to transport Alfie to a plane standing by. Alfie’s family want him to receive treatment at the Bambino Gesù hospital in Rome. However, the hospital called police, who threatened to arrest Alfie’s father for assault if he took his son.

“Alder Hey hospital called in police to stop Alfie’s transfer, locking all doors, setting off a fire alarm and removing all children from the PICU. This merely proves first that Alder Hey is acting in violation of parental rights, second that Alfie is indeed a prisoner if the police are being used, and third their tactics are simply hysterical,” states the press release.
